LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – There was one too many national anthems sung during Saturday’s boxing fight between Filipino Manny Pacquiao and American Floyd Mayweather.

In addition to the Philippine and American national anthems, the Mexican national anthem was also sung just before the boxers entered the ring.

The announcer said the Mexican National Anthem was being sung to commemorate Cinco De Mayo. Many speculated that it was a demand made by Tecate beer (brewed in Mexico), one of the fight’s major sponsors.

Well, an investigative reporting done by The Adobo Chronicles revealed that it was one of the conditions imposed upon by Mayweather when he signed the deal with the Pacquiao camp.

It turns out that Mayweather is a dual citizen — of the U.S. and Mexico. His Mexican connection explains his surname which pays tribute to the month of May, as in ‘Mayo’ in Spanish. As in Cinco de Mayo.

There will certainly be a lot of celebration going on with the Mayweather camp: a unanimous decision victory over Pacquiao, Cinco de Mayo and bottomless Tecate beer!

WHICH CAREER ENDED TONIGHT FOR MANNY PACQUIAO?

imageLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – He was gracious in defeat – Manny Pacquiao losing to Floyd Mayweather in the “Fight of the Century,” in Las Vegas tonight. He remains  a hero and a people’s champ, but tonight’s loss by unanimous decision could mean an end to the boxer’s career.

But which one?

Boxer? Congressman? Recording Artist? Actor? Basketball coach and player? Christian minister?

And did his chances of becoming Philippine president diminish after tonight?

Only time will tell. And The Adobo Chronicles will be there to report on developments.

RACHEL RAY PUZZLED BY SUDDEN DECLINE IN RATINGS OF HER COOKING SHOW

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Move over, Martha Stewart. Television’s number one cooking show now belongs to Rachel Ray.

From ‘date night meals’ to ‘cookout recipes,’ Ray’s down-to-earth approach to her cooking has earned enormous following for her syndicated ‘The Rachel Show.’

But then something very puzzling happened over the last couple of weeks. The show’s ratings suddenly plummeted it didn’t even register on the Nielsen scale. (Nielsen is the television standard for measuring TV show ratings.)

It was only after the show’s producers obtained a copy of a magazine featuring Ray on the cover that they realized why the ratings nose-dived:
