GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE CLOSED THIS WEEKEND FOR FILMING OF ‘PLANET OF THE APES’ SEQUEL

imageSAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge is closing down for the weekend for its longest shutdown ever and first closure in more than 25 years.

The bridge will be closed from midnight Friday until 4 a.m. Monday morning so workers can install a moveable median barrier to prevent head-on collisions, according to a statement on the bridge’s website. Since 1970, there have been 128 head-on collisions that have resulted in 16 deaths, the Associated Press reports.

What bridge authorities are not telling the public is that during the 52-hour closure, film crews and actors will descend upon the bridge to shoot sequences of a sequel to “Planet of the Apes.”  The Golden Gate Bridge had been prominently featured in the film’s earlier versions, including the 2014 film, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.’

“We had to keep this secret in order to avoid angry and adverse reaction from motorists who use the bridge daily to get in and out of San Francisco,” a bridge official who spoke on condition of anonymity told The Adobo Chronicles.

While non-film vehicles will not be allowed on the bridge for the duration of the closure, pedestrians can watch the filming from the Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion or the Marina.

The new sequel’s working title is ‘Planet of the Apes : The Twilight Saga Continues.’

PHOENIX, Arizona (The Adobo Chronicles) – Singer Katy Perry is no stranger to controversy when it comes to what she wears during her concerts and television appearances — from her yellow-face Geisha costume at the American Music Awards to her infamous provocative attire on the children’s show Sesame Street. The latter never aired.

Now, fans and critics alike are going gaga over what she might wear during her half-time show performance at this year’s Super Bowl XLIX  scheduled for February 1, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. Will she offend audiences with  racist antics or theatrics?

The Adobo Chronicles was given an exclusive sneak peek into Perry’s half-time show performance.  Both fans and critics can breathe a sigh of relief.

We are not at liberty to divulge all the details of Perry’s 15-minute performance at the National Football League (NFL) Championship Game, but we can tell you that she will be singing a medley of her top hits. There will be no inappropriate costumes– not even the slightest chance of a wardrobe malfunction.

More importantly, the concert queen will be racially and culturally sensitive and will not offend any single racial minority who will be watching live or on TV.

Perry will have a total of seven costume changes during her performance. Through the magic of choreography, props and stage lighting, all costume changes will happen on stage!

As  to what she will be wearing, Perry will don  costumes that will be representative of each of the world’s seven continents. “No one will be left out,” she says.

We can also reveal that as far as the Asian continent costume is concerned, it will definitely not be a Geisha attire. Rather she will go on stage as a Philippine Muslim princess, carried on top of bamboo poles by half-naked men. Singkil as it is called in the Philippines.

TEN THINGS TO BRING IF ATTENDING PAPAL MASS IN MANILA

pope-francis-child-1MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – For a country where more than two-thirds of its 100 Million population is Roman Catholic, a visit by the Pope is an event that’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for its citizens.

Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines next week will see millions of Filipinos lining the streets and holding 24 to 48-hour vigils to secure their place where a public mass will be officiated by the pontiff. We have put together a top ten list of things you must bring or have if planning to attend any of the Pope’s public appearances in Manila:

  1. A hat or umbrella to protect you from the sun or rain.
  2. A gallon of drinking water for every person attending.
  3. A travel size deodorant. The smell could get nasty in a crowded environment . (A Brut cologne would work just fine).
  4. A clean hand towel to wipe off perspiration, or to keep dry if it rains or drizzles.
  5. An anahaw (dried palm leaves) or Chinese accordion silk fan to keep your cool in 100-degree weather.
  6. A can of SPAM, pork and beans or Vienna sausage for every person attending, plus a can opener if the can does not have a lift-off top. The street food vendors will be taking the day off. Of course they also want to see the Pope.
  7. Bring your pets so they can be blessed by the Pope.  Remember, he recently said all animals go to  heaven. Make sure, they live (and die) in grace.
  8. Your favorite rosary so that it can be blessed by the Pope. If you don’t have one, buy one NOW. The selling price could double or triple in the coming days. Especially pearl rosaries.
  9. Your cell phone so that you can text your friends and relatives if you get separated or lost in the crowd.
  10. Last, but most important of all, heed the advice of the head of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA): wear an adult diaper. There will not be enough portable toilets for everyone to use.
