San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) has announced the launching of the Hot Cop of Castro Annual Pageant, with its inaugural show to be held on December 15 at the famed Castro Theater.

The contest announcement comes just days after Police Officer Chris Kohrs, a.k.a. Hot Cop of Castro, took down his Facebook fan page months after generating more than 50,000 followers.

Kohrs rose to prominence after a Castro resident took a photo of the good-looking cop while he was making the rounds of the gay district. Shortly after the photo was posted on Facebook, it went viral, giving birth to a popular fan page.

Korhs told reporters that he just wanted to focus on his family and job as a police officer. Nevertheless, he told his fans that he was just three digits away (911).

In view of Kohrs’ disappearance from social media, the SFPD decided to look for a successor, and the rest is history.  The Hot Cop of Castro Pageant was born. “It is a way  for us to showcase the SFPD in a more positive light as a gay-friendly police force,” a police spokesperson said.

Interested pageant contestants are asked to contact SFPD through text and email but are urged not to call 911. The contest is open to all SFPD cops, gay or straight. “We have no specific qualifications or criteria. All it takes is for candidates to show us what they’ve got that’s hot,” SFPD said.

CASTRO RESTAURANT OWNERS HIRING ASIAN CONSULTANTS TO COME UP WITH A NEW NAME

IMG_5489San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – It’s called Fork Café, a restaurant smack in the middle of San Francisco’s gay Castro Street. It has not been in business for long, but because it wasn’t doing very well, its new owners have decided to switch it to an Asian noodle place, serving a variety of noodle dishes from countries like Vietnam, China and the Philippines.  It also plans to adopt a new name to reflect its menu offering.

Not too long ago, a new Mexican restaurant in the Castro was bullied into changing its name from ‘Bandidos’ to ‘Hecho’ because a small group of politically-correct Castro residents protested, saying that the original name (which is Spanish for outlaw or criminal) was offensive to the Mexican American community.

The Fork Café owners are not taking any chances. They are hiring for consultant positions to help them come up with a new name that will not be racist, offensive, discriminatory or insensitive to the Asian American community. The owners said they are an equal-opportunity employer and are encouraging as many people to apply. Applicants don’t have to be gay or lesbian but they must be Chinese, Vietnamese or Filipino.

“Initially we were thinking of the name ‘Chopsticks,’ ‘Slurp,’ or ‘Pancit,’ but we were told these names could be offensive to Asians. That’s why we decided to enlist the expertise of community consultants,” they said.

GAY SAN FRANCISCO POLITICIAN WANTS TO BE A COMMUNITY SEX SYMBOL

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles)- An openly-gay San Francisco politician has gone public about being sexually active and wants to be  a community sex symbol while serving as a role model for the prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Supervisor Scott Wiener who represents the predominantly gay Castro district has announced that he has been taking the one-pill-a-day pre-exposure prophylaxis believed to prevent HIV infection. It is known as PrEP (brand name Truvada).

Wiener, who said he was HIV negative, said that abstinence from sex is still the best way to prevent infection. “Since I don’t want to abstain from sex, I have to find a way to keep my HIV-negative status. Condoms are not 100% effective,” he added.

Other community activists criticized Wiener’s decision to come out about PrEP, pointing out that Truvada — unlike condoms –does not protect people from  sexually-transmitted diseases other than HIV. They said that PrEP may lead people to throw out condoms altogether and to totally abandon safer sex practices.

Wiener refused to reveal how many times per week he engages in sex, or how many multiple partners he has had — anonymous or not.  He would ‘t say either whether or not he’s been having unprotected sex. “Those are very personal information ” he said.

We assume that revealing one’s prophylaxis regimen – like Wiener did – is not.
