MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – He has yet to formally announce his choice for his party’s candidate for the 2016 Philippine presidential elections, but already, President NoyNoy Aquino has ‘annointed’ his 2022 choice for president — Actor Dingdong Dantes.

Dantes, who recently married fellow actor Marian Rivera in what was billed a ‘Royal Wedding,’ is 34 years old and is ineligible to run for president in 2016. The miniimum age to run for president is 40. Aquino was the Best Man during the Dantes-Rivera wedding.

The actor is on the short list of the Liberal Party’s senatorial slate for 2016.

Champion boxer Manny Pacquiao, 36, had previously announced his intention to run for president. Like Dantes, Pacquiao is not qualified to run in 2016 because he is under-age. But the boxer is already an elected congressman, representing his province of Sarangani. He ran under the banner of the Nacionalista Party.

Fast forward to 2022. Dantes vs. Pacquiao for Philippine president.

MAR ROXAS: ‘I WAS BETRAYED BY PRESIDENT AQUINO’

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) –  Initially one of the leading contenders in the 2010 Philippine presidential elections, now Secretary of Interior and Local Governments Mar Roxas slid down to become a vice-presidential candidate in order to make way for  then Senator NoyNoy Aquino. Roxas was was defeated by Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay by the narrowest margin in the history of the Fifth Republic.

In the last 5 years, Roxas has been one of Aquino’s staunchest supporters and apologists, often sacrificing his own reputation and integrity just to make Aquino look good in the eyes of the Filipino people.

Now, Aquino is reportedly mulling on courting Senators Grace Poe and Francis Escudero to run as a tandem under the Liberal Party  in the 2016 presidential elections, as the ratings of presumptive standard bearer Roxas fail to improve.

Binay is the opposition party’s standard bearer.

Upon hearing of Aquino’s plan for the party, Roxas screamed an expletive, the same one that he was heard saying at a campaign rally in 2010. (The Adobo Chronicles is a family-oriented news site, so we can’t print the expletive.)

“I have been betrayed,” Roxas said. “After all that I’ve done for Aquino, this is what I get,” he added. A very religious man, Roxas likened himself to Jesus being betrayed by Judas.

In his frustration, Roxas told reporters that if he is not annointed as the party’s standard bearer, he will immediately resign as Local Governments secretary and work for Binay’s political campaign. “Let’s see who will have the last laugh,” Roxas said.

WHY MICROSOFT’S BILL GATES SNUBBED PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT AQUINO

Gates
Gates

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Speculations continue to spread like wildfire on why Bill Gates – the world’s richest man – didn’t pay a courtesy visit to the president of a country he recently visited: the Philippines.

The head of Microsoft and his wife, Melinda, were reportedly in Los Baños, Laguna — south of the capital, Manila — to visit the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Gates is the biggest donor of the Institute, contributing $18 Million dollars annually.

Reports also indicate that the billionaire couple spent some R&R in a plush resort in Palawan, a fast-growing tourist destination in the Philippines.

A spokesperson for Malacañang Palace (the presidential residence) confirmed that back in November, Gates requested for a courtesy visit to President NoyNoy Aquino, but that the request was subsequently withdrawn by Gates himself. No reason for the withdrawal was given by the Palace.

Many Filipinos are comparing the snub to the time of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, when then First Lady, Imelda Romualdez Marcos was stood up by the visiting Beatles, and failed to show up for their scheduled appointment at Malacañang.

A source close to Gates told The Adobo Chronicles that the reason the billionaire cancelled the request was because he was later informed that Aquino is a chain smoker. Mr. Gates, a health buff, didn’t want to be exposed to second-hand smoke if he visited with Aquino.

All things cleared. No politics involved!
