“Guests can come on board, be served dinner and breakfast from the chow line, get a tour of the battleship, ride the flight simulator and, of course, sleep in the bunks used by the former crew of USS New Jersey — all for the bargain price of $69.99 per day,” said Jack Williard, senior vice president fo the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial .

There must be a catch, right?

Yes, but just one minor catch: showers are not provided.

So go ahead and book your bunk. It’s first come, first served.

And pack enough deodorant and cologne, as a courtesy to the thousands of other pilgrims who will be part of the packed crowds you’ll be intimately hobnobbing with at the papal event.

PHILIPPINES CUTS DIPLOMATIC TIES WITH THE VATICAN!

ROME, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The predominantly Catholic country, the Philippines, has cut diplomatic ties with The Vatican, sources close to Pope Francis, told reporters in Rome today.

The surprise move comes after Pope Francis issued a statement Wednesday calling for the church to embrace Catholics who have divorced and remarried.

Such couples “are not excommunicated, and they absolutely must not be treated that way,” Francis told a Vatican crowd. “They always belong to the church.”

Francis asked pastors to welcome Catholics who have remarried without an annulment, even though such Catholics are currently barred in most cases from receiving the Eucharist, the central sacrament of the faith.

“The church is called to be always the open house of the father … no closed doors! No closed doors,” Francis told the crowd at his weekly public audience, which resumed after a month-long summer break.

President Aquino, a devout Catholic (and a bachelor) confirmed the news with the Malacañang press corps. He said that the decision was reached after consulation with the ultra conservative Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

The Philippines prides itself as the only remaining country in the world, outside of The Vatican, in which divorce is not legal. This, despite common knowledge that many Filipino men, especially rich politicians, are known to be philanderers and openly practice polygamy.

“By his statement, Pope Francis undermines the Philippines’ stubborn resolve to cling to centuries-old church dogma regarding the Sacrament of Marriage,” Aquino said. “We can’t allow The Vatican to take away the Philippines’ world record on divorce law,” he added.

POPE FRANCIS TO MEET WITH MILEY CYRUS IN SEPTEMBER OVER HER COMMENTS ON NOAH’S ARK

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Pope Francis will meet with American pop singer Miley Cyrus when he visits the United States September 22-27, 2015.

During his papal visit, Francis will meet with President and Mrs. Barack Obama, address a joint session of the U.S. Congress and speak before the United Nations General Assembly.

The U.S. Conference of Bishops confirmed Francis’ private meeting with Cyrus who recently said that the biblical account of Noah’s Ark is nothing but a fairy tale. Cyrus was quoted saying, “That’s f*cking insane. We’ve outgrown that fairy tale, like we’ve outgrown f*cking Santa and the tooth fairy, and all Disney characters.”

The pope was concerned that because many young Catholics look up to Cyrus, they might be led to believe that Noah’s Ark is indeed a fairy tale.

The meeting will happen on September 24 in an undisclosed location where the Pope is expected to conduct a one-on-one catechism session with Cyrus. He hopes the meeting will convince the popular singer about factual accounts in the bible, including the story of Noah’s Ark.

Cyrus, speaking through her publicist, said she welcomes the meeting and is open to hearing what Pope Francis has say about the issue.

The singer started her career as the Disney character Hanna Montana. She has outgrown that character and has since appeared nude in photographs and revealed she was gender neutral.

Cyrus regularly attended church as a youngster and even took to wearing a purity ring as a sign of her Christian faith.
