NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – It came right from the horse’s mouth — well from Miss Universe herself — so you can put all the rumors and gossip to rest: She did not date Philippine President Aquino.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach categorically made the statement in response to a question during a recent radio interview in New York (“that is so NO!”). The Filipina beauty said she met the president a few times in public events as part of her duties as a contributing writer for the lifestyle section of a Philippine newspaper. (Watch a video of the radio interview below).
Wurtzbach’s denial of the rumor has devastated Aquino’s sister, talk show host Kris, who previously said in her show that she promises to be a good sister-in-law to Miss Philippines, now Miss Universe.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ) – The stage in Metro Manla is set for the grand homecoming of Filipina Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Stella Marquez Araneta, chairperson of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., (BPCI) today announced that Wurtzbach will be coming home on January 23 , will have a press conference on the 24th and a grand parade on the 25th.
BPCI, the local franchise owner for the Miss Universe pageant, is leaving no stone unturned to make this the biggest and most memorable homecoming for a Filipina international beauty queen ever. The Philippines has waited 42 years for another Miss Universe crown. Margarita Moran won the crown in 1973 while Gloria Diaz won it in 1969.
Marquez said the BPCI is coordinating very closely with Malacañang (the presidential palace) to make the January 25 parade successful. She also announced that Wurtzbach will have a very private audience with President Aquino before the parade. Aquino was rumored to have dated Wurtzbach in early 2015.
As for the parade itself, Marquez said that presidential candidate Mar Roxas — Aquino’s anointed one — will escort the New Miss Universe on the parade float.
It is Malacañang’s hope that this will give Roxas a much-needed boost in the polls. National and Metro Manila surveys have consistently put Roxas at the bottom among the declared presidential candidates, lagging behind Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Grace Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay (Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is in 5th place).
In exchange for the privilege of Roxas as the parade escort, Malacañang has promised to donate an undisclosed amount to BPCI to be charged against DAP, the Aquino administration’s controversial and unconstitutional Disbursement Acceleration Program.
NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – In a whirlwind of television appearances on national networks yesterday, Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was asked repeatedly if she was willing to share her crown with Miss Colombia.
In the days following the Miss Universe pageant, there have been calls for Wurtzbach to share the title with first runner-up Miss Colombia, after host Steve Harvey erroneously announced Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner. No less than former Miss Universe owner Donald Trump suggested both ladies should be declared ‘co-winners.’
In response to the questions — and displaying the confidence and graciousness that wowed the pageant judges, Wurtzbach said:
‘I already shared the crown with Miss Colombia; she wore it for a full four minutes. And I continue to share my crown with the 79 other beautiful ladies that competed with me in the pageant; I am their representative. I am willing to share the crown with anyone.’
As can be seen in the photo above, the FOX News anchor took her up on her offer.
CNN’s Don Lemon also wore the crown when he intereviewed her on his show, although the cameras failed to capture Lemon’s crowning moment.
