Donald Trump Calls For An End To All Beauty Pageants

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has run out of controversial campaign statements and has turned his attention to beauty pageants.

The former owner of the Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe pageants is now calling an end to all international beauty contests.

Riding on the coattails of the recent Miss Universe fiasco in which pageant host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner (Miss Colombia) only to correct himself later saying it was Miss Philippines who had won the title, Trump says beauty pageants are degrading to women.

Trump’s comments came after an op-ed piece in salon.com argued that the great Miss Universe mixup offers an excellent moment to call for an end to beauty pageants. “Once upon a time, feminists openly condemned such contests, and with good reason. But then, somehow, it became unfashionable to object to parading young women around and assigning them numerical ratings like cattle at the marketplace,” the article said.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles if it wasn’t hypocritical of him to call for a total ban of beauty contests considering he himself owned pageants in the past, Trump said, ‘that was pure business. I am a businessman.’

‘Don’t get me wrong. I love beautiful women, and beautuful women love me,’ he added.

MISS COLOMBIA’S APOLOGY TO MISS PHILIPPINES: LOST IN TRANSLATION

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – As we wrap up our amazing and unbelievable coverage of the 2015 Miss Universe beauty pageant live from Las Vegas, we now bring you our final report.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has finally broken her silence regarding criticism about how she and some of her fellow Latina Miss Universe contestants reacted to the crowning of Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

By now, the whole universe knows what happened Sunday night when pageant host Steve Harvey erroneously announced Miss Colombia as the new Miss Universe and later corrected himself (after Ariadna had already been crowned) that it was actually Wurtzbach who had won.

Miss Colombia has issued an apology to Miss Philippines.

Gutierrez, in both question and answer portions for the top five and the top three finalists, chose to use a Spanish interpreter, despite being able to speak in English.

Again, she chose to use Miss Philippines’ native language to apologize, using an interpreter.

In her statement, Miss Colombia wanted to say to Miss Philippines: I sincerely apologize for the attitude I and some of my fellow Latina candidates gave you on Sunday.

The following was the Tagalog translation provided to her by an amateur linguistics student: “Humihigik ako ng tuwid sa ginhawang binigay ko at ng ibang kandidating Latina sa iyo noong linggo.”

Roughly translated, it said: “I am giggling straight for the relief I and other (former?) Latina candidates gave you last Sunday.”

A classic case of “lost in translation.”

The gracious Miss Philippines, understanding what Miss Colombia really wanted to say to her, accepted the apology nevertheless.

PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT AQUINO WELCOMES HIS NEW LOVE TO MALACAÑANG

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Previously, we reported that Philippine President Aquino has all but given up the prospect of bringing a First Lady into the presidential palace (Malacañang) before his 6-year-term expires in June of 2016.

The bachelor president had hoped that Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, whom he had been reportedly dating earlier this year, would be that First Lady.

That possibility is now out the door with Wurtzbach winning the Miss Universe crown last Sunday, making her committed contractually to the Miss Universe Organization for a full year.

In lieu of a First Lady, Aquino has decided to bring in a First Dog named Apollo, who, like Wurtzbach, is of German heritage.

Wurtzbach is half-German.

Apollo is a German Shepherd.

At least Aquino is consistent with his preferences.
