Maria Ressa’s Nobel Prize Withdrawn!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just hours after the Philippine Court of Tax Appeals acquitted Rappler CEO Maria Ressa of tax evasion charges, the Nobel Prize Committee announced that it has withdrawn her Nobel Peace Prize.

Ressa bagged the Nobel Prize with the help of allegations that the law in the Philippines was being “weaponized” to curtail her free speech and Freedom of the Press.

With her acquittal, the Nobel Committee felt Ressa no longer deserved the status of Laureate.
