Former Senator Bam Aquino Comes Clean: “I’m A Gambling Addict!”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just like his cousin, the late President Noynoy Aquino, former Senator Bam Aquino is an avid fan of gaming. He said so himself on his Twitter Account. He even created an account dedicated to gaming.

For many netizens, the senator’s post all but legitimizes huweteng, cockfighting, BINGO, POGO, and other games regulated by PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) or otherwise prohibited by law.

At least, Pinoy gamblers have found an advocate in a former senator.

MWSS Wants To Restrict These Water-Wasting Activities

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just when the heat index is reaching astronomic proportions, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) wants Local Government Units (LGUs) to ban certain activities as a way of conserving water.

MWSS wants to temporarily ban inflatable pools and car washing, saying these waste a lot of water. It also recommended that Filipinos limit their showering to once a week.

The agency said it needs the cooperation of citizens and businesses to help avert any water shortage and service interruptions.

Environmentalists immediately praised the MWSS proposal and demanded that LGU’s implement it ASAP.

Metro Manila Mayors Vow To Give Up Their Cars In Favor Of Bicycles!

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – A group consisting of Metro Manila mayors and officials of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority recently visited The Netherlands for a study tour on sustainable development practices, including cycling as a form of citizen transport and mobility.

If there’s anything sustainable the Dutch are known for, it is cycling. And there’s no better place to learn about it other than Amsterdam.

To prove that their trip is not purely vacation or junket, the mayors of MMDA officials vowed that when they return to the Philippines, they will all give up their luxury cars in favor of bicycles.

“We have to set the example for development projects we implement,” said San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte seconded the motion.

Metro Manilans should expect a marked improvement in traffic when the vacationers return to the country.
