Monday Was A Slow News Day At Rappler!

MANDALUYONG, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Mandaluyong Bureau) – It was eerily quiet at the Rappler headquarters in Mandaluyong on Monday, July 24.

The least-trusted news brand in the Philippines just couldn’t get its reporters and editors to come up with a juicy, intriguing story for its primary headline. It was definitely a slow news day.

While most news media were at the Batasang Pambansa covering President Ferdinand E. Marcos’ second State of the National Address, the Rapplerettes were holed up in their cubicles waiting for that one story that would fit into their biased reporting, one that’s always critical of the administration.

Finally, at mid-afternoon, a Rappler reporter chanced upon something in the live news feed she was watching on YouTube. And Hallelujah! Rappler had its main story of the day:

Jollibee’s Real Identity Finally Revealed!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – For the longest time, Filipinos and foreigners have wondered who is the man behind the popular Jollibee fast food chain. He has always gone with just his first name.

Thanks to the National ID program of the Philippine government, Jollibee applied and received (after almost two years) his official identification document.

An overzealous employee at the Philippine Statistics Authority leaked Jollibee’s surname and middle initial to the media. Now, Jollibee has no choice but go public.

His full name: Jollibee D. Tuazon.

Ronald McDonald, meet Jollibee Tuazon!

Tourism Secretary Frasco Happiest Person At SONA!

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco was the happiest person in the Batasang Pambansa (National Legislature) plenary hall on Monday.

Fresh from her family leave and the flak she and the Department of Tourism received due to the controversial rebranding, logo and promo video, “Love The Philippines,” Frasco was all smiles during and after President Bongbong Marcos’ State of the Nation Address.

The reason? Marcos “endorsed” her branding and mentioned the slogan “(they) Love The Philippines.”

Unknown to Frasco, the President was not referring to the tourism slogan but to the love and dedication many workers in his administration have shown in the past year.
