Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – ABS-CBN Network today fired controversial news anchor Korina Sanchez for on-air comments she made on the news show “TV Patrol” in which she said she hoped that the supertyphoon Ruby (international name Hagupit) hit Japan instead of the Philippines.

Her comments drew protests from Filipino netizens who were one in denouncing the wife of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas as an embarrassment to the country. Japan formally filed a protest with the United Nations  seeking to permanently silence Sanchez. It has gained 100% support from the international body.

Last year, in the aftermath of another supertyphoon (Yolanda) that resulted in thousands of lives lost and massive destruction of property, Sanchez criticized CNN’s Anderson Cooper for commenting that the Philippine government was slow to come to the aid of typhoon victims. Sanchez said Cooper, who was reporting from ground zero in hardest-hit Tacloban, “didn’t know what he was talking about.”

In a skype call with The Adobo Chronicles this morning, Sanchez shrugged off her firing and said, “Well and good! This will give me time to focus on campaigning for my husband in his 2016 bid to become elected as the next president. I’ll have the last laugh when I become the First Lady.”

No remorse there…

LEVI’S STADIUM SOLD TO OAKLAND RAIDERS!

imageSanta Clara, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – San Francisco is having the last laugh, although it’s at the expense of its beloved team, the 49ers.

It was just this past summer when the 49ers moved to its new home stadium, Levi’s in Santa Clara, following the closure of Candlestick Park.

The move from San Francisco to Santa Clara has all but crushed the 49ers’ chances of being in the Super Bowl. In fact, San Francisco’s season is on the brink of extinction after the 49ers (7-6) imploded in a 24-13 loss to the Oakland Raiders (2-11) on Sunday.

Following the devastating 49er loss  to the Raiders, the San Francisco team finally agreed to sell the Levi’s Stadium to the Oakland team which has been eyeing the new stadium since it opened in August.

Jim Harbaugh’s squad will have to look for another home stadium and the consensus among the owner, coach and players is to move back to San Francisco. They believe that moving back will revive the luster that the team had when they were in the Super Bowl two years ago.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee was a happy camper after hearing of the sale and  pledged to do all he can to help find a new home for the 49ers in the City by the Bay.

OBAMA IN HOSPITAL, ASKS AMERICANS TO KEEP CALM

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – President Barack Obama visited the hospital Saturday for a sore throat related to acid reflux.

Obama’s physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, said a preliminary exam on Obama’s throat showed swelling, and the results of a subsequent CT scan were normal. “The president’s symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly,” Jackson said.

The president’s trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, was suggested by Jackson, said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

Earnest added that the President has asked his fellow Americans for positive thoughts. “I ask the nation to keep calm,” Obama said, “there is no need to panic. I am covered by Obamacare.”
