NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – In an effort to repair his image resulting from his shenanigans on live television awards shows– including the last Grammys — rapper Kanye West, a.k.a. Mr. Kim Kardashian, is throwing his money and artistic skills into the world of fashion.
West has just launched his own new clothing line for men which will be distrbuted exclusively by the GAP store. The new line is called ‘Bridging The GAP by West.’
For his signature design, West has introduced the Manskirt, inspired by the Scottish kilt. He describes it as the “ultimate comfort in men’s wear, symbolic of the equality between the sexes.”
“The time has come for real men like myself to be comfortable in wearing women’s skirt,” West said.
The Manskirt comes in black or white and is made from 500-thread, 100% cotton, for $199. The bottom half of the long sleeves can come off to convert into short sleeves, ideal for the hot summer months.
A fake fur version can be special ordered for $399.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Filipinos have long expected President NoyNoy Aquino to endorse his close ally, Local Governments and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas for the 2016 presidential elections. But today’s announcement shocked the entire nation: Aquino has endorsed world boxing champion and congressman Manny Pacquiao!
Aquino revealed his endorsement after Pacquiao made a rare appearance in the Lower House yesterday and unexpectedly made a pitch for President Aquino who is currently parrying calls for his resignation from office due to the Mamasapano encounter with rebels where 44 police officers with the Special Action Force lost their lives.
Pacquiao said Aquino should not resign as he shot back at the President’s critics for judging the Chief Executive too harshly.
This is an unusual show of support for the President from Pacquiao who has been allied with the opposition group, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), which is expected to draft the world champion boxer in its senatorial lineup in 2016.
In announcing his endorsement for the boxer, Aquino said that Pacquiao is well qualified to succeed him because he embodies the fighting character, integrity, and love for country that are needed to make the Philippines great once again. “Pacquiao also has the respect of world leaders because of the name recognition he has built for himself as a world boxing champion.”
Aquino added that Pacquiao even has a new movie, “Manny” which has just been released internationally. “Filipinos love to elect movie actors so I am confident they will have no problem electing Pacquiao,” he said.
Asked by reporters if Pacquiao’s record as a top lawmaker absentee in Congress will hurt his chances for election, Aquino categorically said, “Not at all! The position of president is a 24-hour, 7 days-a-week job, so his absenteeism is not going to matter much. In fact, because he will reside in Malacanang (presidential palace), he will be present every day.”
Roxas could not be reached for comment, but we expect a fuming mad, foul-mouthed reaction to today’s presidential endorsement.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – It was yet another celebrity wedding, this time between Philippines Senator Chiz Escudero and actress Heart Evangelista. President NoyNoy Aquino was the Best Man. But he was a no-show! Escudero’s brother, Phillip, stood in for the president.
Just recently, Aquino was severely criticized for being a no-show at the arrival ceremonies for the 44 police officers who were slain in an encounter with rebel forces in the southern island of Mindanao. Instead, Aquino was attending the inauguration of a new car mafucturing plant just south of the capital. The presidential palace explained to the media that the arrival ceremonies was not on the president’s schedule.
In an interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that Escudero’s wedding held February 15 in the province of Quezon was not on Aquino’s schedule either, and he blamed the president’s appointments secretary for failing to include it in the presidential calendar.
Of course, it’s always someone else’s fault, but at least the presidential palace is consistent with its responses to criticism regarding the whereabouts of the president. It has created a popular tagline on social media – #NasaanAngPangulo (Where is the President).
