Leni Robredo Wants To Be Coronavirus Czar like U.S. VP Mike Pence

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There’s something about being “czar” that excites Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo.

Fresh from being appointed then fired as the drug czar of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, Robredo now wants to be named the “coronavirus czar.”

It all started when U.S. Vice President Mike Pence was named the White House point person quarterbacking the administration’s response to COVID-19.

The Philippine VP told The Adobo Chronicles that she would very much like to be Pence’s counterpart for the Philippines.

”I think I can do a great job in stopping COVID-19 from spreading in the country,” she said. “If VP Pence can do it, I, too,  as Philippine Vice President can.”

VP Leni Robredo Lectures Senator Grace Poe On ABS-CBN Franchise Extension

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A concurrent resolution from the Senate and the House of Representatives authorizing the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to extend ABS-CBN Corp’s franchise is enough to allow the network to operate until lawmakers decide on a new one, said Senator Grace Poe.

But a leading lawyer, none other than Vice President Leni Robredo, debunked Poe’s statement and proceeded to lecture the Senator.

”How can either House of Congress concur with the other to resolve the franchise issue when these are two separate and independent branches of the legislature,” Robredo said.

”It’s plain common sense,” the VP pointed out, adding that “just like it is common sense for me as VP not to concur with any and all of the President’s pronouncements or executive orders, it is equally common sense for Senators never to agree to anything emanating from the House of Representatives and  vice versa.”
