CNN Camera Crew Just Happened To Be At Bus Terminal When They Spotted VP Candidate Leni Robredo

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo is known for her simple ways, consciously trying her best to avoid the spotlight and the television cameras.

Many will remember the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President NoyNoy Aquino, when Robredo was caught taking the backway stairs to the Congress Assembly Hall to avoid the red carpet festivities.  That was before she was named LP’s vice presidential candidate.

Well, yesterday, Robredo was caught riding a passenger bus in Cubao, Quezon City, on her way to her hometown to spend the Holy Week holidays.  On camera, she said it was just practical for her to take the bus which only costs P1,000 as opposed to a plane which would be $7,000.

So, the CNN camera crew that interviewed her on the bus just HAPPENED to be at the bus terminal.  What a lucky television crew.

And judging by the CNN video, the bus was already in motion, on its way to Naga City. CNN just HAPPENED to be headed to the same destination as Robredo.

It’s more fun in the Philippines.

CEBU CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A Filipino broadcast journalist was ordered deported from his native country after being proclaimed “persona non grata” by the Philippines’ Bureau of Immigration (BOI).

The deportation order came just hours after the conclusion of the second Philippine presidential debate held in Cebu City last night.

Teddy Locsin, Jr.  used social media to criticize the debate, particularly candidates Senator Grace Poe and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

Locsin said that the exchange between the two candidates was  “lousy” because they used “too much” Tagalog, even referring to the language as “inappropriate” for a debate.

Locsin said, “The sagutan between Poe and Mar is lousy because they used too much Tagalog, a language inappropriate to pointed debate, circular shi***.”

President Noynoy Aquino who always delivers his speeches in Tagalog, signed the deportation order.

English is the Philippines’ second language used by the country’s major newspapers and many news broadcasts including CNN Philippines.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Leni Robredo this week began her ‘solo’ campaign sorties after she and her political team saw the need to turn the spotlight away from her presidential running mate, Mar Roxas.

Robredo, the Liberal Party’s candidate for vice president, has not been doing very well in national polls, trailing behind rivals Senators Chiz Escudero and Bongbong Marcos.  Robredo acknowledged that all of her joint campaign appearances with Roxas have been largely focused on the presidential candidate.

But while Robredo is trying her best to “breakaway” from joint appearances with Roxas, the presidential candidate’s wife, broadcaster Korina Sanchez would not let go.

In a recent solo campaign appearance by Robredo, the media photographers jumped on the occasion to take picture-perfect shots of Robredo speaking to a crowd of supporters.  In photo after photo, supporters of Roxas led by Sanchez, photobombed Robredo with giant pairs of flipflops (tsinelas).

The flipflops are part of Sanchez’ Tsinelas  project which she started years ago to promote her television talk show.  The project aimed to collect a million pairs of flipflops to give away to poor families and children.  It has, since then, become a campaign paraphernalia for the Yellow Party, and in particular, Mar Roxas.
