MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – After Vice President Leni Robredo publicly supported the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, she seems to have earned back the trust and confidence of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Robredo is back in the Cabinet as the new Mendicant-in-Chief. As the “donation czar,” the VP’s main responsibility is to solicit donations for and on behalf of the government and the Filipino people.
In a statement released by Malacañang, Duterte said he was very impressed with Robredo’s recent calls for donations for all sorts of causes — from relief for natural calamity victims to help for those caught in the crossfire between government troops and the terrorist group Maute in Marawi City. “She even has a call for donations for a defense fund to help with the electoral protest filed against her by former Senator Bongbong Marcos. She is clearly the most qualified person for the job,” Duterte said.
NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – Presidents Donald Trump of the United States 🇺🇸, Vladimir Putin of Russia 🇷🇺 and Xi Jinping of China 🇨🇳 have all withdrawn from consideration for TIME Magazine’s 2017 Person of the Year.
Although the annual recognition doesn’t happen until the end of the year, the three leaders have conceded that no other world leader deserves the title than Philippines 🇵🇭 President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a recent TIME online poll, Duterte topped the voting way ahead of all other candidates for the magazine’s most influential persons of the world.
Even Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Pope Francis and newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron have agreed that TIME should name the very popular Duterte as this year’s Person of the Year.
