TIME Pulls Name Of Shibby In List Of Most Influential Teens

E749F983-7E09-4DFD-9C25-CD92319E6E55NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – While the rest of the Filipinos wodered why 14-year-old Shibby de Guzman was selected by TIME among its 2017 Most Influental Teens, the nuns and students at St. Scholastica’s College in Manila were celebrating for the great honor brought to the school by one of its own.

But alas, the celebration was shortived.

Today, TIME magazine pulled the name of de Guzman from its list, saying that there has been a total mix-up.

C469174E-B915-48FC-BF0F-43AB68893864The editors voted on Xander Ford to be on the prestigious list, but apparently one of their interns inadvertently substituted Ford photo with that of Shibby.

The editors said that Ford was chosen “not because of his facial reconstruction but because he was the epitome of strength and courage amid adversity and bullying.”

Was this another Miss Universe-Steve Harvey moment?

Philippine Star Publishes Fake News

0AFEC83F-A47A-45E6-80A0-9A2C39888B47UPDATE: PhilStar has since “corrected” its story and has removed any mention of Adobo Chronicles as the alleged source of the unconfirmed information.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio did it. And so did the ‘legitimate news site’ Philippine Star.  Both just published fake news.

But let’s leave Laurio alone.  She’s a blogger.  Let’s focus on PhilStar.

On October 30, PhilStar published an opinion column in its Pilipino edition claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump called Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes a ‘narco.’ No specific source of the information was cited except that an unnamed reporter from an unnamed news source reportedly interviewed Trump aboard Air Force One, the presidential plane.

On October 31, Thinking Pinoy posted a comment on his Twitter account about the reported statement from Trump.  He referenced PhilStar as the source of info.

On the same day — October 31 — The Adobo Chronicles published a ‘story’ about Trump and Trillanes, adding that the senator in turn called the U.S. President a ‘wacko.’

Then on November 1, PhilStar published a news report about Trillanes calling the Trump statement ‘fake news.’

Guess who PhilStar blamed for the alleged ‘fake news?’ — The Adobo Chronicles!

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  So, who is spreading fake news now?
