SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Just days after Facebook and Twitter announced they were joining a coalition that would address the problem of misinformation and fake news on social media, the two Internet giants said that they would also ban legitimate media — not all, but the biased media.

Upon learning of this new development, three Philippine news media companies scrambled to convene their respective legal departments in an effort to challenge Facebook and Twitter on their latest policy announcement.

The three news media companies are Rappler, Inquirer and ABS-CBN — biased media all.

It wasn’t clear whether GMA will be included in the ban now that former presidential sister Kris Aquino has joined the network after deciding not to renew her contract with ABS-CBN.

Donald Trump’s Body Double

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – If it’s on the Internet and picked up by some in the news media, it must be true: the Hillary Clinton that emerged  from daughter Chelsea’s apartment waving and smiling, was a body double.

Non-fans of Clinton just could not believe that someone diagnosed with Pneumonia can be up and running in just a few hours after a fainting and dehydration spell.

But body doubles among politicians, especially candidates for president, are more common than most people think.

In fact, The Adobo Chronicles has learned from a mole in the Trump campaign that Donald, indeed, has a body double.

This explains why people are seeing a good-natured, calm, prim and proper Donald Trump one day, then the next a racist, misogynistic, shrewd and self-absorbed person.

How to tell Trump from his body double?

Whenever you see him speaking and reading from a teleprompter, you’re seeing a body double.

ACLU To Sue Airlines For Discrimination

Emirates, one of the airlines that have banned the Galaxy Note 7

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a class action lawsuit against domestic and international airlines that have banned the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smart phones on board their flights.

The ban stems from reports that the phone has exploded while being charged.  Samsung has issued a recall of the phone.

Among the airlines that have banned the phone include the Emirates, Air Asia, Singapore Airlines, Quantas and Virgin Australia.

U.S. and Japanese aviation authorities have urged passengers not to turn on or charge the large-screen phones on aircraft while the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has told passengers not to stow the device in checked baggage.

In the law suit, filed on behalf of millions who own a Galaxy Note 7 phone, the ACLU said that the ban was a clear case of discrimination because owners of Apple iPhones and other smart phones are not covered by the ban.

“The law must be equally applied to everybody,” ACLU said.

Meanwhile, Apple is reporting that orders and sales for its newly-released iPhone 7 has increased 500% since the exploding Samsung phones made headlines.

Is this the beginning of the end of the iOS and Android competition?
