Heroes’ Kin Would Like Their Loved Ones Exhumed From Libingan Ng Mga Bayani And Transferred Elsewhere

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Relatives of Filipino presidents, national artists and soldiers buried in Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LNMB) are demanding that the remains of their loved ones be exhumed and transferred to various private cemeteries throughout the country. This, after the Philippine Supreme Court issued its ruling allowing the burial of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos in the National Heroes’ Cemetery.

Prior to the high court’s decision, various groups opposed the transfer of Marcos’ remains from the refrigerated crypt in Batac, Ilocos Norte to the resting place reserved for heroes and former presidents. The groups maintained that Marcos did not deserve to be buried in LNMB because of his dictatorial rule, fake war records, and human rights violations.

“We do not want our loved ones to be interred in the same resting place as a bad man,” they said, referring to Marcos.

The relatives also demanded that all the expenses for the transfer of their loved ones’ remains be paid for by the Marcos family.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar said that as soon as all the buried remains are removed from LNMB, the place will be converted into a public park with a new monument dedicated to Ferdinand E. Marcos. Costs to develop the park and build the monument will also be charged to the Marcos’ estate.

Filipino Journalists To Picket Philippine Star Offices Over Mocha Uson Column

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Journalists from major print and broadcast news outlets in the Philippines will stage a picket in front of The Philippine Star offices in Mandaluyong City to protest the new designation given to controversial entertainer-turned-political blogger Mocha Uson.

The Star has just announced that it will run a regular weekly column by Uson — not in the entertainment section — but in the daily newspaper’s op-ed section. That practically gives Uson the status of journalist.

Since campaigning for the presidential bid of then Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Uson has gained tremendous popularity as a political blogger. She has more followers and reader engagement that established news outlets like the Inquirer, Rappler, ABS-CBN and GMA-7. She makes no secret about her all-out support for the new Philippine president.

Uson scored a one-on-one interview with Duterte shortly after his election, and another with Nur Misuari, founder and leader of the rebel group, Moro National Liberation Front — opportunities not afforded the legitimate news outlets.

In recent weeks, an online petition requesting Facebook to shut down Uson’s blog gathered over 30,000 signatures. Ironically, a counter-petition in support of Uson generated more signatures, close to 35,000.

Online news Rappler’s CEO Maria Ressa also posted a series of op-ed pieces critical of Uson and Facebook’s algorithm, stating that it was “time to take back the Internet and Social Media.”

In a joint statement issued by the major news outlets, it was announced that all their newsroom staff will leave their offices and cubicles starting today and will not cover any news events. Instead they will stage daily pickets in front of the Philippine Star offices and will continue to do so until Uson’s column is scrapped.

“We apologize in advance to the Filipino people for the news blackout that this will create, but we need to fight for our pride, dignity and unique talents and expertise as true journalists. We need to take back the news from Uson,” the statement said.

Why The Alleged Plot Of FilAms Organizing To Unseat President Duterte Is Nothing But A Hollywood Myth

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – The latest bombshell announced by Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Dueterte was a supposed plot by Filipina American millionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis and Hungarian American billionaire George Soros to unseat him, a plan that was apparently being hatched by Filipino Americans.

While the revelation was understandably upsetting to many Filipinos and Filipino Americans, an investigative research by The Adobo Chronicles’ interns shows that the plan was more of a myth.

The investigation clearly showed that despite Nicolas-Lewis’ millions of dollars to possibly finance the plan, it wasn’t enough to stage the unseating of Duterte which could only come in the the form of a “coup” or an EDSA-style people power.

First of all, the alleged plan couldn’t be hatched or carried out in the U.S. since it would require an overwhelming, if not totally united, support from the more than 3 Million Filipinos living in America.

We can’t even count how many Filipino organizations there are in America, each having their own agenda, political leaning and what not. Even coalitions of FilAm organizations are no where close to representing the majority of Filipinos in America. We have women’s organizations, LGBT organizations, regional organizations, university alumni organizations and what not. They could never agree on anything.

And how exactly will FilAms launch a coup from the U.S. ? A million march in Washington, D.C.?

More like several hundreds, our researchers pointed out.

And Duterte will be watching it live on CNN (assuming it’ll even cover it) from Davao City and saying to himself, ‘Those sons and daughters of a wh*res!”
