Approval Ratings For Duterte Rigged, Says VP Leni Robredo

img_7637NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The numbers are in, and Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has again received excellent approval ratings in two major polls released recently.

The latest surveys conducted by both the SWS (Social Weather Stations) and Pulse Asia have all but confirmed that despite organized efforts both here and abroad to discredit Duterte and de-stabilize his administration, Filipinos overwhelmingly trust and support their leader (80+%).

In contrast, self-proclaimed “voice of the opposition”  VP Leni Robredo suffered a 12-point decline in her SWS rating, even before the latest controversy in which she was taken to task for vacationing in the United States while a powerful typhoon hit the Philippines, including her own hometown of Naga City.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Robredo during one of her photo opps with typhoon victims in this city and she unequivocally stated that the surveys were rigged.

“How can Duterte remain so popular when we have done a tremendous job in discrediting him and his war on drugs,” the Vice President said.  “And how can a lady like myself who has committed herself to the uplift of those in the ‘laylayan’ receive dismal ratings?”

Robredo is now calling for an investigation into both the SWS and Pulse Asia surveys and has asked her friend and mentor Senator Leila De Lima to call for a Senate inquiry into ther matter.

The vice president’s statement comes in the midst of ongoing investigation on the possible rigging of the May, 2016 elections in which she defeated rival candidate Bongbong Marcos by an unimpressive margin.  She described the process of resolving Marcos’ electoral protest as “slow.”
