Leni Robredo Says Adobo Chronicles’ Viral Story On Duterte’s Death Is Recyled Fake News

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo recently vowed not to take fake news sitting down.  Her office is now actively debunking misleading news media reports and social media posts, a la Rappler and Vera Files.

Today, Robredo  took to task The Adobo Chronicles for its recent story that President Rodrigo Duterte confirmed his reported death but that he rose again in three days.

In a tweet commenting on said story, Robredo said that this was recycled fake news.

It wasn’t clear which she considered fake news: that Duterte died, or that he came back to life after three days.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte Confirms His Death, Says He Rose Again After Three Days

Honeylet Avanceña holds a Sunday edition of Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday confirmed rumors that he had passed away.

”It’s true,” Duterte said, “but I rose again after three days.”

To prove he is back alive, Duterte’s companion, Honylet Avanceña posted a live video of the couple reading last Sunday’s edition of the Philippine Star.

Duterte’s resurrection greatly bothered those who have been advocating for the late Corazon Aquino to be named the next Filipino saint.  The former President has not been credited with any miracle, as required by the Roman Catholic Church before proclamation to sainthood.

With Duterte rising from the dead on the third day, many Catholic believers say this was a miracle, a sign from God, and that he should now be proclaimed a living saint.

There was no word from Pope Francis who is currently visiting in the Middle East whether or not he is going to make that proclamation.

Salvador Panelo: “God Wanted Rodrigo Duterte To Be President”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles,  Manila Bureau) – In an interview on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said she believes that God wanted Donald Trump to be president.

She told the Christian Broadcasting Network:

“I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that He wanted Donald Trump to become president. That’s why he’s there and I think he has done a tremendous job in supporting a lot of the things that people of faith really care about.”

In reaction, Malacañang Press Secretary Salvador Panelo told The Adobo Chronicles:

”Well, God also wanted Rodrigo Duterte to be Philippine President, but for an entirely different reason: God wanted to piss off the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).”

Just recently, the CBCP which has always been critical of  Duterte, sought forgiveness for its lengthy silence over “disturbing issues,” such as the President’s bloody war on drugs and his attacks on the Church and its doctrines.

No reaction yet from CBCP on Panelo’s comment.
