Leni Robredo Names Anonymous Social Media Accounts That She Says Should Be Banned

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Even our own headline is a misnomer.  How can anyone name someone who is anonymous? But that’s exactly what Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo tried to do when she released an initial list of what she believes are “anonymous social media accounts peddling fake news.”

Robredo has called for legal sanctions against such accounts. She said that while journalists and others can be charged criminally for libel, slander and related crimes by pedlding lies, falsehood peddlers on social media under anymymous accounts should be held accountable just as much.

Robredo’s initial list of ‘anonymous’ accounts include:

  • Thinking Pinoy (R.J. Nieto)
  • For the Motherland (Sass Rogando Sasot)
  • Luminous (Trixie Cruz-Angeles & Ahmed Paglinawan)
  • Pol Pinoy (Politikal Pinoy and Adobo Chronicles)
  • Pinoy Ako Blog (Jover Laurio)
  • Reyna Elena (Edwin Jamora)
  • Maharlika (The Office of the Vice President is still running a background check on this account)

When asked by reporters if she meant “pen names” instead of “anonymous” account holders, she replied “Anonymous, and I’m sticking by it!”

Adobo Chronicles, while registered in the U.S., is 100% Filipino owned.

”My business venture with Rappler is in survival mode, and the only way to keep my business operating is to invest in a 100% Filipino-owned company,” Ressa said.

”Besides, Adobo Chronicles fits well into what Rappler has been all about in the years of its existence : propagating biased, fake, and  unbelievable news,” she added,

Ressa is offering $10 Million to buy out the Chronicles.

No word yet from the Adobo Chronicles publisher.

SWiS Survey: Only 9 Out Of 100 Filipinos Dissatisfied With President Rodrigo Duterte

BE5585D6-F25B-4C2C-A42A-29A8FB2DD51BMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A newly-released SWiS survey shows that 76 out of every 100 Filipinos are satisfied with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, while only 9 are dissatisfied.

The survey was conducted during the last quarter of 2018.

According to an analysis of the survey conducted by The Adobo Chronicles, the 9 Filipinos are the senatorial bets under the Opposition coalition party, Otso Diretso plus Leni Robredo. (For those unfamiliar with the Filipino language, ‘otso’ means 8)

The 15 who are undecided were just shy to reveal their support for Duterte and were afraid of incriminating themselves for various reasons.
