VICE PRESIDENT BINAY PROPOSES ONE-CHILD POLICY FOR PHILIPPINES

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles®)  – Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay who, according to the latest polls, has slipped to third place among the three declared presidential candidates — behind the Aquino Administration’s bet Mar Roxas and Senator Grace Poe who remains in first place — has proposed a major shift in Philippine policy.

Diverting his campaign strategy away from personal attacks and more on issues important to the Filipino people, Binay today unveiled his bold proposal to address the problem of overpopulation and poverty in this nation of 100 Million people.

Speaking to reporters at an impromptu press conference at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City, Binay said that if elected president, he will propose and implement a one-child policy for the Philippines, similar to that put in place by China in 1978.

China’s policy is aimed at alleviating social, economic and environmental problems in this country of over a billion people.

Binay, a devout Catholic, is confident that the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) will support his plan, as long as it doesn’t involve any means of artificial birth control.

In  justifying his proposal, Binay cited the fact the U.S. State of California is bigger in land size than the entire Philippines, and yet the Filipino population is  almost three times that of California (see illustration).

The vice president is proposing a fine of one hundred thousand pesos or a prison term of one year for both parents who would violate the one-child policy. Unmarried parents would pay double the fine  or would suffer a two-year prison term.

“It’s about time we solved the problem of overpopulation in our country once and for all,” Binay said.

POPE FRANCIS WANTS TO MEET WITH DONALD TRUMP DURING U.S. VISIT

imageHAVANA, Cuba (The Adobo Chronicles® )  –  Pope Francis arrives in the U.S. on Tuesday for a six-day visit during which he will meet with President and Mrs. Obama, address a joint session of Congress, speak before the United Nations General Assembly and attend a huge Catholic family assembly in Philadelphia.

Despite his very tight schedule, the Pope says he would like to meet with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to discuss issues of immigration which has been at the forefront of the real estate mogul’s campaign.

Speaking in his native Spanish, Pope Francis told reporters: “Me gustaría mucho para reunirse con Donald Trump para darle un poco de charla sobre los migrantes y la inmigración y para darle un poco de nalgadas .” (I would very much like to meet with Donald Trump to give him a little lecture about migrants and immigration and to give him a little spanking.)

Trump has not responded to the Pope’s request but is expected to make time to meet with the Holy Father as a way to win the votes and support of the estimated 76 Million Catholic voters in the U.S.

Trump is Presbyterian but  even a solid vote from the denomination’s 1.7 Million members will not assure him of the Republican nomination or the presidency.

DONALD TRUMP’S BIBLICAL BASIS FOR WANTING TO DATE HIS OWN DAUGHTER

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump lashed out at those who have criticized him for his recent statements that he would date his own daughter, Ivanka.

“I am a very religious person and I live by God’s Commandments,” Trump said.

He quoted the bible in which it says:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark, 12:30-31).

Trump pointed out that we should not take bible quotes too literally. “The spirit of the second commandment is that we should love not just our neighbors but everyone, and that includes my daughter'” he said.

Trump’s infatuation with Ivanka became evident once more at last night’s Republican presidential debate when, responding to a question on which woman the candidates think should be placed on the new ten dollar bill. His response, of course, was “my daughter.”
