Philippine Senator Bam Aquino ‘Invited Back’ By The Vatican!

65DD9763-46C7-4D72-9726-BDA83B018036THE VATICAN, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles, Rome Bureau) – Pope John Paul’s security service has invited Senator Bam Aquino back to The Vatican, just days after the Philippine lawmaker had an audience with the Pontiff.

The Vatican had announced that the papal ring worn by Pope Francis is missing. Francis was last seen wearing the ring just hours before Aquino’s audience with the Pope.

CCTV camera recordings show the international dignitaries who visited with the Pope the day the ring went missing.

In one of the footages, Senator Aquino is shown  tighly grasping the Pope’s hand then kissing the papal ring.

”We are not saying that the Senator bit off the ring from the Pope’s finger,” a Vatican spokesperson said. “But we’re looking at all angles and are not prepared to make any accusations at this time. All we’re doing is sending courtesy invitations to persons of interest.  The Vatican will pay for their travel expenses back to Rome.”

Talk about an all-expense-paid travel.  No Philippine taxpayer money involved!

Class-Action Lawsuit Readied Against Philippine Religious Clergy For ‘Offending Religious Feelings’

7BA41091-F672-4DBE-8548-C67FE5BF6B84.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Supreme Court has upheld a decision of the Court of Appeals that found activist and tour guide Carlos Celdran guilty of offending religious feelings.

At issue here is Article 133 of the Revised Penal Code.  The Lower Court said that Celdran “meant to mock, insult, and ridicule those clergy whose beliefs and principles were diametrically opposed to his own.”

The case stems from Celdran’s holding of a protest sign with the word “Damaso” during a Church service. (Damaso is in reference to a Spanish friar in Dr. Jose Rizal’s novel, ‘Noli Me Tangere.)

Today, The Adobo Chronicles learned that a group of still unnamed Filipinos is preparing to file a class-action lawsuit against members of the religious clergy who unfurled a political banner while singing ‘Bayan Ko’ inside a Church.

The group said that the Clergy offended their religious feelings and that the Constitutional provision of Separation of Church and State was violated.

CBCP, Duterte Sign Historic Memorandum Of Agreement

C28B9B79-EF66-4953-BE78-5AC6E179A30CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In what is being billed as the century’s most significant  coming together of Church and State anywhere in the world, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and President Rodrigo Duterte today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that practically ends the enmity between religion and civil government.

Titled “Humanae Vitale Statistics,” the MOA grants Catholic clergy the freedom to use the pulpit to criticize the Duterte government without fear of reprisal from government.  It also grants Malacañang the right to demand that the President deliver the Sunday homily at a Catholic Church of his choosing for the rest of his term.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told The Adobo Chronicles that Duterte will first be making the rounds of Catholic Churches in Metro Manila, followed by churches in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

For every homily delivered by Duterte, the agreement calls for collections for that Sunday mass to be donated to Duterte’s discretionary fund to be used to help indigent Filipinos.

The MOA is expected to be replicated in other Catholic Churches throughout the world.

Many good things start in the Philippines!
