Donald Trump Apologizes To Filipinos For ‘Terrorist’ Comment

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In a rare public display of vulnerability and fear, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump apologized to the Filipino people for his comment linking their country to terrorism.

In a recent anti-immigration speech in Maine, Trump has lumped the Philippines among “terrorist nations” from where people should be denied entry to the United States.

Trump, in a statement released today, said that his campaign interns fed him the wrong information, leading him to believe that the entire Philippines was a Muslim country and that it was one of the Republics located in the Middle East.

Many believe that the apology was part of the Trump campaign’s damage control efforts to regain the millions of potential Filipino American votes the candidate may have lost as a result of his ‘terrorist’ comment.

Others, however, think that what prompted Trump to finally apologize was Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to engage the Republican candidate to a fistfight. That may be too much for Trump to handle.

Philippine President Duterte Challenges Donald Trump To A Fistfight; Republican Candidate Calls Filipinos ‘Animals’

image.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may have finally met his match in Philippine President Rodrigo R. Duterte. The two have often been likened to each other, but they are thousands of miles apart, literally and figuratively.

Today, Duterte publicly challenged Trump to a fistfight — gloves off — after the American businessman-turned-politician called for the banning of Filipinos from entering the United States.

Campaigning in Maine on Thursday, Trump called for restrictions on immigrants from the Philippines and other countries with high rates of terrorism.

In his speech, Trump listed several immigrants, mostly from Muslim majority countries — Afghanistan, Iraq, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Somalia, Syria, Uzbekistan and Yemen — who were arrested for conducting or threatening to carry out violent attacks, teaching bomb-making to recruits, and otherwise supporting terror groups.  He called them ‘animals.’

Trump had proposed the immigration ban previously but this was the first time that he specifically mentioned the Philippines.

Upon learning of Trump’s statement, Duterte went on national state television, inviting Trump to Manila so that the two could engage in a boxing match, ‘man to man.’

“I will not take any insult on my Filipino people sitting down,” Duterte said. “Let’s settle this once and for all, extra-judicially.”

Addressing Trump directly, Duterte said, “If you are too scared to come to Manila, I can come meet you in Las Vegas, at the Trump Towers or at the MGM Grand Arena.”

The Trump camp has yet to respond to Duterte’s challenge.

Leaked: Donald Trump Poised To Quit Presidential Race

Trump: hands up and quitting?

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Calling the general elections “rigged” and with support for his presidential bid fast eroding, Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to quit the race altogether, according to leaked emails obtained by The Adobo Chronicles.

The confidential personal emails between Trump and two of his children, Ivanka and Donald Jr., clearly indicated his growing frustration over his failing campaign.

In one of the emails, Trump complained that support for his campaign, including from high-ranking and well-respected leaders of his own party, is falling apart and could cause him the greatest embarrassment yet in his business and political career. “I can’t fathom losing the election to that woman,” he told his children, referring to his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. He specifically mentioned Senator John  McCain’s criticism of his comments against the mother of Muslim American Capt. Humayun Khan who was killed in Iraq trying to save the lives of his fellow soldiers.

In another email exchange with Ivanka, Trump also lamented the fact that wife Melania has been unfairly dragged into negative campaign politics starting with her plagiarized speech at the Republican National Convention, and now with nude photos appearing in The New York Post and all over social media.

The last straw for Trump seems to have been the early endorsement of Hillary Clinton by The Houston Chronicle, traditionally known for supporting Republican candidates, as well as President Barack Obama’s recent call for the GOP to withdraw its support for their presidential candidate.

“I want to save whatever is left of my dignity and celebrity status by quitting the (presidential) race now before it becomes too late,” he wrote to his son and daughter.
