EXCLUSIVE: Latest Yellow News Round-up

IMG_0169The Adobo Chronicles brings you the latest Yellow news round-up as reported by reliable local and international news sources:

  • Newly-wed couple Senator Antonio Trillanes and Representative Gary Alejano began their two-week honeymoon in an undisclosed location somewhere in the European Union. The couple obtained their marriage certificate this week from the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands where same-gender marriage has been in place for some time now. IMG_2044
  • For the third straight year, the Philippines has been named the ‘Selfie Capital of the World,’ thanks to the efforts of the Liberal Party and other members of the opposition. The Guinness Book of World Records also noted that the Philippines is credited for starting a new world trend of ‘paper selfies’ — that is, taking self photos with documents, petitions and affidavits in hand. No other country has come close to the Philippines’ record of 258 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.IMG_2039
  • The Supreme Court (SC), acting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has extended the term of FVP Leni Robredo by 19 days. The high court reset to July 11 the scheduled June 21 preliminary conference on the protest and counter-protest in the 2016 vice-presidential election filed by former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo, respectively.IMG_2046
  • Senator Risa Hontiveros has filed a copyright petition to claim exclusive ownership of her new definition of “rebellion” and “invasion.’ The smart lady senator earlier criticized President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, arguing that the terrorist siege on Marawi City didn’t constitute rebellion nor invasion.IMG_1974
  • Incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima and Filipino American millionaire Loida Nicolas Lewis have sent a joint letter to US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley to reconsider her recent threat to withdraw from the Human Rights Council. De Lima and Lewis are very worried that if the US quits the UN council, they will lose a key ally in their allegations of human rights abuses under the Duterte administration.IMG_2047
  • In the field of entertainment, former presidential sister Kris Aquino announced on her social media page that she has been cast in her first-ever Hollywood movie. She will play Darna in the Hollywood Films and DC Comics production of ‘Darna Versus Wonder Woman,’ set to open Labor Day Weekend simultaneously in the U.S. and the Philippines.IMG_1925

Anderson Cooper Breaks Up With Kathy Griffin

IMG_1941

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Starting in 2017, there will be no more New Year’s Day kisses between CNN’s Anderson Cooper and comedian Kathy Griffin.

The two have been the most watched couple on television leading up to the New Year’s Eve dropping of the ball in New York’s Times Square.

Cooper, who is openly gay, has never denied any platonic relationship with Griffin who many describe as a “fag hag.”  And who can blame Griffin when she is partnered with the dashing Cooper?

But like everything else, things must come to an end.

After that controversial and disgusting photo of Griffin holding a bloodied and beheaded Donald Trump, Cooper decided to call it quits with the in-your-face comedian.

Already, speculation is at fever-pitch on who Anderson will kiss at the strike of midnight on December 31, 2017.

Could it be Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O’Donnel or Roseanne Barr?

May we suggest Trevor Noah?

NUJP Declines Membership Applications of Rappler’s Maria Ressa And Blogger Raissa Robles

IMG_1793.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The National Union of Journalists of the Phlippines (NUJP), has rejected the membership applications of Rappler CEO Maria Ressa and blogger (and self-proclaimed investigative journalist) Raissa Robles.

In a unanimous decision by NUJP’s board of directors — composed mostly of staff from the Inquirer, GMA-7 and ABS-CBN — the membership application rejections were based on:

  • Rappler’s status as a foreign-funded news organization which is a violation of the Philippine Constitution
  • Robles’ status as a biased blogger as evidenced by her anti-Duterte social media posts and anti-Marcos sentiments expressed in her book, “Martial Law: Never Again.”

NUJP said that the board, in rejecting the two membership applications, was clear on maintaining the professionalism and integrity of the Fourth Estate and that it cannot “tarnish the good image of the Philippine news media by admitting Ressa and Robles as members.”

Both Ressa and Robles declined to comment on the NUJP decision when contacted by The Adobo Chronicles.
