MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has reiterated his previous statement that Filipinos should not be “choosy” when it comes to which Covid-19 vaccine they would be receiving.
Roque’s latest statement comes in the wake of news that Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown, will be receiving Pfizer vaccines next month, while the rest of the country will have to settle with vaccines from China or Russia.. News reports have previously indicated that Duterte’s preference would be the Chinese or Russian vaccines.
Does this mean Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara, is at odds with the President’s preferences and statements?
Nevertheless, Roque said Davao City residents shouldn’t be choosy and be contented with the Pfizer vaccine.
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – The summer capital of the Philippines and the rest of the Cordillera Region have taken the lead in isolating members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and all groups that are perceived to be anti-government and anti-Filipino, including the very liberal Liberal Party.
Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced a new policy that declares the NPA and the Liberal Party to be “Persona Non Grata.” As such, members of these two groups are off limits to the City of Pines.
The new policy comes just weeks before Baguio launches its popular month-long Panagbenga Festival which easily attracts one million people.
Magalong said anyone associated with NPA and LP seen roaming the streets of Baguio will be immediately arrested and detained in newly-constructed jail cells next to the city’s dumpsite in Irisan.
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – Local officials in the summer capital of the Philippines are not content with banning cussing in public. They want to ban PDA – that’s public display of affection – in the city’s parks.
While the cussing prohibition is already law, the PDA ban is still in the works, thanks to a new ordinance that was passed on first reading prohibiting kissing, petting, necking, and lying down together within the premises of the children’s park at Burnham . It was authored by Councilor Joel Alangsab, who says his proposal is aimed at protecting children from seeing lewd acts at the park.
So, if the proposal becomes law, we advise Baguio residents and tourists alike that when they feel like engaging in PDA while visiting Burnham and other public parks, they should bring a blanket, shawl or umbrella to cover up their lewd acts. That would make Baguio city officials really happy.
