LOS ANGELES , California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Reality star Caitlyn Jenner has offered to be a “trans ambassador” to U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz . Jenner told gay and lesbian publication The Advocate in an interview posted this week that she admired Cruz despite the social conservative’s stance on transgender issues.
However, Cruz, who is desperate to win the Republican nomination for president in the 2016 elections, said he wants Jenner to be more than just his trans ambassador. He wants her to be his vice presidential running mate.
“I think that Caitlyn is the most high-profile transgender person not only in the U.S. but worldwide,” Cruz said, “and she will be a polarizing figure, bringing the LGBT community and the conservatives together. “She will also help bring out the women’s vote.”
Jenner, a declared Republican, is reportedly seriously considering Cruz’s offer.
Meanwhile, members of the Log Cabin Republicans, the LGBT caucus of the GOP, have said that they will oppose Jenner’s VP candidacy and will campaign to have her defeated. “She does not represent our beliefs and values,” a closeted gay Log Cabin member told The Adobo Chronicles.
