Donald Trump Jealous And Very Disappointed For Not Being Invited To APEC Summit

IMG_7035.PNGLIMA, Peru  (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) –Sure, Donald Trump is not yet president of the United States, but the president-elect has expressed deep disappointment for not being invited to a summit of Asia-Pacific leaders here in Lima, Peru.

Leaders of some 21-member countries belonging to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation group (APEC) are meeting here amid speculation that Trump will scuttle President Obama’s key trade initiative in the Asia-Pacific region, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

But apart from being disappointed, Trump said he was very jealous that he was not able to personally meet two of his idol world leaders — Russia’s Vladimir Putin and the Philippines’ Rodrigo Duterte.  The two leaders met for the first time while in attendance at the APEC summit.

Duterte has publicly acknowledged that he was a fan of Putin, and so has Trump.

In contrast, Trump has repeatedly criticized China for what he had called unfavorable trade deals with the U.S. China, an APEC member, has seized the opportunity to extend its already massive economic clout in the Pacific Rim, in anticipation that the TPP is laid to rest by Trump.

The Adobo Chronicles had the rare opportunity of speaking with both Duterte and Putin, and we asked both gentlemen what they thought about Trump.

Putin merely shrugged his shoulders, while Duterte uttered some intelligible cuss words which we assume were directed at the American president-elect.

For now, there are no selfie opportunities for Trump with the two popular leaders.

Filipino Scientists Produce World’s First Organic Boneless Bananas

IMG_7012.PNGLOS BAÑOS, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Move over seedless grapes. Make way for boneless bananas!

Agricultural scientists at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB) have successfully produced an organic prototype of bananas not seen ever before anywhere in the world. They’re boneless!

The bananas have been marketed on a limited basis at selected produce markets in and around the campus. They’re being sold at 47 centavos per pound ( US $o.01)

Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol praised the Filipino scientists, saying that the new discovery puts the Philippines on the world map in as far as organic food production is concerned. He also expressed optimism that when mass-produced, the boneless variety will double or triple the country’s banana exports. “It’ll be a great boost not only to organic farmers but to our economy as a whole,” he said.

Donald Trump Will Be Among The Celebrity Judges For Miss Universe Pageant In Manila

img_5860NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Previously, we reported that President-elect Donald Trump’s first official foreign state visit will be to the Philippines during which he will come face to face for the first time with President Duterte whom many have called the ‘Donald Trump of the Philippines.’

By some lucky coincidence, the Miss Universe Pageant finals will be held in Manila during Trump’s visit.

The Miss Universe Organization has invited Trump — former owner of the pageant — to be among the celebrity judges, and he has accepted.

The pageant finals is scheduled on January 29 (January 30 in the Philippines). Reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will crown her successor at Manila’s Mall of Asia Arena.

Trump, whose inauguration is set 9 days earlier in Washington, D.C., said that he will be spending his own money for this trip to the Philippines — all for the love of beautiful women.
