MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – History has just been made when Spain crowned a transgender woman as its representative to this year’s Miss Universe Beauty Pageant.
The new Miss Spain will be the very first transgender woman to enter the international beauty pageant. (Previously, a transgender woman joined the Miss Canada pageant but failed to win the much-coveted crown.)
Today, Binibining Pilipinas Charities which holds the franchise for many of the country’s beauty pageants, announced that beginning next year, it will accept candidates from the LGBT community, more particularly transgender women.
