MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –Subject to fact-checking by Rappler and Vera Files – Anti-Duterte retired entertainer Jim Paredes was deported back to Australia at dawn this morning. But it was all in error.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested Paredes and put him on the first available flight from NAIA to Sydney.
Apparently, overly-eager BI employees mistook Paredes as the Australian who was reported to be engaged in anti-government activities in violation of the Philippine Constitution. Foreign citizens are expressly prohibited to engage in such activities while in the country. Paredes holds Australian citizenship.
The real Australian concerned in the report turned out to be a 71-year-old nun, Sister Patricia Fox.
As he was being escorted to his plane, Paredes kept on shouting, “Look at me, look at me. Do I look like a 71-year-old nun?”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Blogger and self-proclaimed ‘investigative journalist’ Raissa Robles has just added a new title to her growing list of credentials: world historian.
She gained the new title through a single tweet in which she revised world history by claiming the late Ferdinand E. Marcos told world leaders to impose travel visas on Filipinos.
Now we all know Marcos was a world dictator. How powerful.
Upon reading Robles’ tweet, Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio asked Robkes: ‘Asan ang resibo?’
LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Philippines’ Vice President Leni Robredo was briefly detained by British Immigration authorities as she was about to leave London for Manila. Robredo was in London for a speaking engagement at the London School of Economics.
Reports say that Robredo didn’t have the proper visa to enter the United Kingdom. She was holding a Schengen Visa which allows holders to freely travel in the 26 Schengen member-countries. The U.K. is not among the Schengen countries and a separate visa is required for visitors.
It was only after it was ascertained that Robredo was the Philippines’ Vice President that Immigration authorities released her. She was released on humanitarian and diplomatic grounds.
