Cynthia Patag’s Open Letter To VP Leni Robredo

img_7428MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She did it in 2015, and she’s doing it again in 2016 — criticizing the vice president of the Philippines.

Cynthia Patag, retired entertainer-turned Aquino apologist, lambasted then President Jejomar Binay for not supporting President NoyNoy Aquino.  Now she is taking a similar stand about Vice President Leni Robredo who just resigned her Cabinet post because of irreconcilable differences with President Rodrigo Duterte.

What a difference a year makes. At least, Patag is consistent!

Senator De Lima, Ronnie Dayan Soon To Be Reunited In Contempt?

IMG_7416.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – At yesterday’s Senate hearing investigating the death of former Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr. while in jail, witness Ronnie Dayan was cited for contempt.

Dayan, the confirmed lover, driver and bodyguard of then Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, was castigated for insisting that only drug lord Kerwin Espinosa was his source of drug money supposedly intended for the now lady senator.

Meanwhile, in the House of Representatives, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez on Monday said he wants Senator Leila De Lima arrested if she refuses to answer the show-cause order against her.

The show-cause order was in connection with De Lima’s advise for Dayan to go into hiding after he was asked to appear before a House hearing.

“First time din ito nangyari na merong senator na nakialam sa proceedings ng House. Hindi pa nangyayari iyon. Wala pang senador na nag-advise doon sa witness ng House of Representatives para magtago,” said Alvarez. (First time for this to happen. That a senator interfered with the procedings of the House. That has never happened before. No senator ever advised a witness of the House of Representatives to go into hiding.)

The House of Representatives Justice Committee will issue the order, asking De Lima to explain why she shouldn’t be cited in contempt.

Will the former lovers be finally reunited, in contempt?

VP Leni Robredo: Hired By Cell Phone Call, Fired By Text Message

img_7409MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Duterte administration was criticized for firing Vice President Leni Robredo through a text message, but Malacañang has the appropriate response.

On Sunday, Robredo received a text message from Secretary to the Cabinet Leoncio “Jun” Evasco, Jr. asking her to “desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting this Monday, December 5.”

Following receipt of the text message, Robredo announced she was resigning from her post as Housing Czar.

Duterte critics immediately derided the president for the way the message to Robredo was handled.

But Malacañang’s communications office responded by saying that the vice president was hired through a cell phone call on live televsion.  “So what’s wrong with firing her via text message,” Secretary Martin Andanar said.

Welcome to the 21st century and to a high-tech Duterte administration!
