Senator Cynthia Villar Has A New Proposal For Philippines To Achieve Rice Sufficiency

IMG_2646MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A few weeks ago, Philippine Senator Cynthia Villar proposed a ban on restaurants serving UNLI (unlimited) rice as a way for the country to achieve rice self-sufficiency.

But that didn’t go well with most Filipinos who always look forward to their free, unlimited rice that comes with their order of  inihaw, kare-kare, adobo and lechon kawali.

Now, the hard-working senator has a new proposal that she thinks would be a sure way to reduce rice consumption in the Philippines.

Villar is proposing that the National Food Authority (NFA) import individually-wrapped rice grains from Japan (see photo).

By making it laborious for Filipinos to unwrap one rice grain at time in order to complete their three to four cups of rice to cook, Villar says in that in due time, Filipinos will eventually reduce their rice consumption.

NFA Administrator Jason Aquino told The Adobo Chronicles that the importation of the individually-wrapped rice grains from Japan will initially cost a lot of money, but in the end, it will reduce local demand for rice.  When that happens, NFA will no longer need to import rice, even when local production is affected by weather conditions, Aquino said.

VP Leni Robredo Wants A Senate Hearing On Who Funded Manny Pacquiao’s Trip To Australia

IMG_2609QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Fresh from her own trip to Los Angeles and Boston to attend a fundraiser and to help her Harvard-bound daughter settle in her apartment, Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo today urged her friends in the Senate to conduct a hearing to determine who funded Manny Pacquiao’s trip to Bribane, Australia.

The Filipino boxer-turned senator was in Australia for his welterweight boxing match with Jeff Horn.  Pacquiao lost to the Australian by the judges’ unanimous decision.

Citing the Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Robredo said that the Filipino people deserve to know if any government funds were used to finance the trip of Pacquiao and the rest of his entourage.

She says she is confident that her request for a  Senate hearing will be favorably acted upon by Senators Antonio Trillanes, Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan and Franklin Drilon.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Robredo on her way to her Sunday yoga class and we asked her to comment on similar demands to release information on who has been funding her foreign travel.  The Vice President simply smiled and asked us to get in touch with her social media director, Georgina Hernandez.

OVP’s Georgina Hernandez Comes Out As A Man

IMG_2595QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Many recognize that beautiful face as the spokesperson for Philippines’ Vice President Leni Robredo. She is known to be Robredo’s mouthpiece, scriptwriter, propagandist and speechwriter. Her name is Georgina Hernandez.

Today, however, Hernandez was outed as man — a spokesman, instead of a spokeswoman for the Vice President.

IMG_2594It took a national newspaper, The Manila Times to make the shocking revelation.

Not there’s anything wrong with gender identity…
