MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – “May hangganan din ang tumanaw ng utang na loob.” (Debt of gratitude has its limitations.)
This was how Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan responded to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s attacks that he was “opportunistic.”
In her Facebook page, Duterte this week accused Pangilinan and Senators Risa Hontiveros and Antonio Trillanes IV of having presidential ambitions. She also recounted how they asked for help from her and President Rodrigo Duterte regarding endorsements in the previous elections.
‘Twenty percent of tbe country above all else “ Pangilinan told The Adobo Chronicles.
He was apparently referring to the latest Pulse Asia survey that shows President Duterte enjoying an overwhelming 80% approval rating among Filipinos.
Pangilinan — advocate of the 20% minority. Or less. But nevertheless above all else.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Senators are having so much fun with investigative hearings “in aid of legislation.” The hearings not only provide them the opportunity to have their few minutes of fame. It also helps distract from the fact that they are part of a do-nothing Senate.
Risa Hontiveros is one Senator who basks in the pleasure of Senate hearings, whether it’s about ‘fake news,” illegal drugs or whatever.
So today, she called for a Senate hearing on the alleged missing PhilHealth Funds amounting to P1.7 billion, during the time that she was connected with the health insurance agency.
For starters, she had summoned herself to be one of the resource persons for the hearing.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – As reported earlier by the mainstream media, the office of Senator Bam Aquino has reported to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) identity theft and hacking incidents to supposedly try and implicate opposition senators in a destabilization plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
Both the NBI and AFP were quick to investigate the hacking incidents and came up with their initial findings.
Apparently, the password for Aquino’s social media and email accounts were easily retrieved by the hackers because it was so easy and predictable to guess. Aquino had used the same password for all his accounts.
