DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – Citing delicadeza (honor and integrity), Paolo Duterte resigned today, Christmas Day, as Vice Mayor of Davao City.

He made the surprising announcement before the City Council.

His resignation sent shockwaves across Davao and the rest of the country and Filipinos had mixed feelings about it.  But not Senator Antonio Trillanes.  He is devastated.

In a statement released to The Adobo Chronicles, Trillanes said it deeply saddens him that he can no longer pursue his demand for the Vice Mayor to undress and show his tattoo.  Trillanes made this repeated demand during  a Senate hearing many weeks ago.

A lost opportunity, indeed.

First And Last Christmas At The Trump White House!

Consistent with the President’s crusade to reverse many of the Obama administration’s policies — from Obamacare to DACA to Transgender bathrooms — he has signed an Executive Order on the eve of Christmas 2017 that would all but end the festive holiday at The White House.

The E.O. stipulates that effective on Christmas 2018, The White House will no longer put up any Christmas decorations.

”I am the President of all Americans — Christians, Jews and Muslims alike — so in fairness to all, I am abolishing the Christmas tradition at the White House,” Trump told The Adobo Chronicles.

We also asked him if he would abolish the annual Presidential Turkey pardon during Thanksgiving.  His response: “I’m thinking about it!”

So, say it while you can: Merry Christmas!

BREAKING: ICC Dismisses Trillanes’ Complaint Against Duterte

8A0AE938-0051-4C2D-81D5-121ED4760FDFTHE HAGUE, Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Remember the complaint filed by Senator Antonio Trillanes against President Rodrigo Duterte before the International Criminal Court? Yes, that complaint which urged ICC’s Office of the Special Prosecutor to recommend that Duterte be charged with crimes against humanity.

We all know of course that Trillanes’ complaint was based on alleged extra-judicial killings in connection with the government’s war on drugs.

Trillanes alleged that no less than Duterte had ordered the killings when he asked the police to “patayin” (kill) drug dealers and users.

After a thorough investigation, the Office of the Prosecutor determined beyond reasonable doubt that Duterte did not violate any human rights nor ordered the murder of anyone.

In his decision, the ICC Prosecutor said that “ Patayin is a word commonly used by Filipinos.  It is used when thy want to say, turn off the light, or turn off the stove.”

”For Duterte to say patayin does not constitute an intent to kill anyone, but rather to turn them off,” the Prosecutor said.

Case dismissed.
