The Adobo Chronicles’ Persona Of The Year

5FADDBFA-FEA6-4DFB-95CF-72FFC032CC90.jpegSAN JOSE, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Jose Headquarters) – Each year, The Adobo Chronicles names its Person of the Year, choosing from among candidates who have made a significant impact on news and social media by grabbing the headlines for heroic deeds and statements relating to national or international events.

This year, it was extremely difficult for us to name just one person, so we named four — all of whom have been credited for statements and actions that betray their the trust, confidence and well-being of their fellow Filipinos.

NoyNoy Aquino – for his  role in approving the implementation of the free Dengue vaccination program which put over 800,000 school children at harms way, resulting from recent finidngs that the drug Denvaxia administered to them could result in severe Dengue disease.

Leni Robredo – for her infamous video message to a United Nations Conference wherein she mimicked the Duterte drug war rhetoric of biased news media and human rights organizations, claiming that 7,000 people have been killed extra-judicially. Also for proposing to preserve the ruins of the Marawi City terrorist siege rather than rebuilding the extensive  damage to government and private infrastructure and property.

Antonio Trillanes – for his tireless pursuit of a criminal case against President Duterte, traveling far and wide to The Hague to personally deliver his complaint to the International Criminal Court.  Also for his penchant for libel suits against those who are critical of his actions.

Risa Hontiveros –  for her consistent advocacy to protect the human rights of terrorists and communists, including those who have caused death, injury and devastation to law-abiding and innocent Filipinos.

For being anti-Filipino, all four have been named The Adobo Chronicles’ PERSONA OF THE YEAR…

PERSONA NON GRATA.

Move Over Leni Robredo: Rodrigo Duterte Lands On The Cover Of GQ Magazine

DE0AEBB0-4839-447B-881B-09555B239E10.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Forget the magazine covers that featured Vice President Leni Robredo. Those were so yesterday.

Today, the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) announced that President Rodrigo Duterte has landed on the cover of the international fashion magazine, GQ.  And it has nothing to do with his war on drugs or Martial Law in Mindanao.  Rather it is about his unconventional fashion sense — from rolled up Barong Tagalog sleeves to sockless shoes to  loosened neckties.

GQ’s New Year’s issue features Duterte on the cover, donning a dark jacket with standing collar, looking dapper yet still presidential.

Duterte’s popularity and approval rating just went up 10 points in this last quarter. The magazine cover could bump up his numbers by another 10 points in the next SWS survey.  Or the international Gallup poll for that matter.

Donald Trump must be feeling so insecure right now.

Senator Trillanes Resigns From His Church!

7A243610-EAF2-4B64-AA13-086B445DD5FEMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Unknown to many, Senator Antonio Trillanes was being groomed to head a new, 21st Century religious denomination called The Prophets of Doom.  Its exclusive membership is reserved for individuals who can accurately predict political developments in the Philippines and around the world.

Trillanes’ most significant and talked about prophecy was that by the year’s end, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s approval rating will bottom out.

EAD3F47A-AAA6-426A-A2B3-707E61491A07Well, it’s the end of the year, and unless one thinks that the Inquirer is a purveyor of fake news, the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey shows the President’s rating going the opposite direction, gaining a whopping 10 points in the last quarter.

The SWS survey all but killed Trillanes’ hope to head The Prophets of Doom.  His reputation is permanently damaged, prompting him to resign from his Church.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles what his plans are going forward, Trillanes said he is trying to join the staff of either Rappler or Inquirer, or try a broadcast career with ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol.

Best of luck to the Senator!
