Pia Ranada Charged With Illegal Possession Of Deadly Weapon

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rappler’s Pia Ranada is supposed to report the news, but lately she has been IN the news.

It started when Ranada was barred from entering Malacañang Palace upon direct orders from President Duterte.

Then today, the reporter was formally charged with illegal possession of a deadly weapon.

The charge came after videos spread on social media showing Ranada following a Presidential Security Guard (PSG) around Malacañang grounds, harassing and intimidating the man with her unlicensed weapon — her smart phone.

In a statement, the PSG said that since the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cancelled the media license of Rappler, Ranada’s smart phone is now considered illegal.

”Moreover, she used the weapon to threaten a presidential guard,” the statement added.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Move over, Maria Ressa; there’s a new Rappler darling in the person of reporter Pia Ranada.

For years, CEO Ressa has enjoyed the spotlight when it comes to issues on mainstream and social media especially as it involves Rappler, but that has changed overnight.

Yesterday, Ranada was barred from entering Malacañang to fulfill her reportorial duties with Rappler.

Reports of the incident immediatley went viral and all of a sudden, Ranada has hugged the spotlight away from her boss.

That doesn’t make Ressa happy. She’s contemplating on replacing Ranada as Rappler’s representative on the Malacañang Press Corps.

Is this what they call professional jealousy?

Philippine Businesses Report Short Supply Of Rubber Bands

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – School and office supply stores in the Philippines are reporting a short supply of the old, reliable rubber band. And it happened in just the last 24 hours.

An investigation conducted by The Adobo Chronicles points to something that happened at the Senate yesterday, when Special Assistant to the President Bong Go testified in the inquiry of the Navy Frigate deal.

Go was accused by the news media of intervening in the purchase of the warships.

But it was not Go’s eloquent testimony that caught the attention of Filipino netizens. It was his fashion sense. He wore several rubber bands on his wrist.

Reportedly a millionaire, Go chose the cheap bands over gold bracelets during his Senate appearance.

Since then, fans of Go as well as the fashionistas started flocking to stores to get their supply of rubber bands.

Shall we call this the People’s fashion?
