A Tale Of Two Presidents: Duterte And PNoy

613F01B8-5EF5-4F37-A95F-D79DF6AABD60.jpegDAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – President Rodrigo Duterte donated his house in Margarita Village along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City to the House of Hope, a charity group providing temporary shelter to children with cancer.

House of Hope Foundation vice president Fatima-Inderah Disomimba said during Kapihan sa PIA Friday, February 15, that the property was transferred to them last January based on a deed of donation signed by the President.

In the past years, Duterte allowed the use of his three-bedroom house at Margarita Village for the House of Hope but at that time, the title to the property was still under his name.

The Davao Children’s Cancer Fund, Inc. (DCCFI), or the House of Hope (aka Kids of Hope), mainly operates using donations.

Meanwhile, former President NoyNoy Aquino set up a barricade in the perimeter of the Aquino family home on 25 Times Street in Quezon City.

DENR Chief Orders Inventory Of Baguio Pine Trees, But There Is Nothing Left To Count

993C905E-6D0A-404F-B4D5-D4A5C223BF4CBAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu on Saturday ordered the counting of Pine trees in this city so that the agency could take steps to preserve and protect them.

“I am really worried that Baguio is losing its pine trees. This is the city’s trademark that is why I alerted my staff in the DENR and Watershed and Water Resources Research Center (WWRRC) to conduct an ecosystem research, specifically on pine trees to extend its (Sic) life span,” Cimatu said on the sidelines of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) alumni homecoming.

But Cimatu’s order is now moot and academic.

There are no more Baguio Pine trees to count or preserve.

A little too late.

Senator Grace Poe Wants To Ban Dual Citizens Like Maria Ressa From Owning Philippine Media

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chonicles, Manila Bureau) – Reacting to a Manila Times column depicting Rappler CEO Maria Ressa as an American using her dual citizenship for political and business motives, Senator Grace Poe today said she wants to amend the Constitution to ban dual citizens from owning Philippine media.

The current law is clear about media ownership being restricted to Philippine citizens or corporations 100%  owned by Filipinos.

Poe, who herself was a U.S. citizen but renounced her American citizenship to run for Senator, said it has become apparent that Ressa is using her Philippine citizenship to legally operate her online news source while also using her American citizenship to attack the Philippine government, CIA-style.

The Adobo Chronicles reached out to Ressa for comment and all she said was “I thought Senator Poe and I were friends?”

So will Ressa now turn Rappler into a stock broker?
