Duterte To Sue Kris Aquino For Cyber Libel

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – “Don’t put words in my f*ckin mouth!”

With that statement, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte filed a cyber libel case against Queen of All Media Kris Aquino.

The case stemmed from an Instagram post by Aquino in which she thanked Duterte for ‘acknowledging’ that the late Ferdinand E. Marcos was responsible for her father, Ninoy Aquino’s death.

”When I said Cory Aquino lost her ‘husband in the hands of Mr. Marcos,’ I didn’t mean to say that he was responsible for the killing of Ninoy. What I meant was that Ninoy was killed during the time of Marcos. Big difference there.”

To this date, even after two Aquino administratios — Cory and Noynoy — the mastermind of Ninoy’s assassination remains a big question mark.

Kris has yet to respond to the cyber libel case filed by Duterte. She’s busy tying a yellow ribbon ‘round the old oak tree.

Philippine Foreign Affairs Department Issues Travel Ban Advisory For Filipinos Visiting U.S.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Every now and then, the State Department issues travel advisories to American citizens warning them about dangers of visiting foreign countries — the Philippines included — it deems unsafe or a security risk.

Now the tide has turned.

Philippines Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin just announced that he has issued a travel advisory to Filipinos planning to visit the U.S.

The advisory came on the heels of the most recent mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, in which about 20 people were reported killed and scores injured.

In July of this year alone, more than 50 mass shootings were recorded across the U.S., prompting  Locsin to declare travel to America totally unsafe. He advised Filipinos with approved travel visas to the U.S. to tear out the U.S. visa page of their Philippine passports because it is practically a useless document as far as travel safety is concerned.

Locsin recommended that Filipinos travel to Hong Kong instead unless the last name on their passports is Carpio-Morales or  Del Rosario.

Andanar Taps Maria Ressa To Head PCOO’s Communications Training Center In Bukidnon

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles. Tacloban Bureau) – Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the national government will build its first strategic communications training center to capacitate state information officers on effective public and media relations.

The Department of Finance and Department of Budget recently approved the PHP100 million proposed budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) to build the facility in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles,  Andanar revealed that he was tapping Maria Ressa to head the training center, acknowledging that the Rappler CEO is a much better communicator than he is or any of his Undersecretaries and Assistant Secretaries.

Ressa has reportedly agreed to take on the new job because her online news business is about to go bankrupt. She is also hoping that by taking on a government position, she will be spared of further prosecution in connection with criminal charges filed against her — from tax evasion to cyber libel.

Assistant Secretary Lorraine M. Badoy is not happy about Ressa’s potential appontment, mostly because of professional jealousy.
