MANILA, Philipines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Leni Robredo says she is ready to be President come 2022, pointing out that she would not have agreed to run for Vice President if she felt she wasn’t capable of holding the highest position in the land, in case something happened to the President.

Upon hearing this latest public statement from Robredo, world leaders —from Barack Obama and Angela Merkel to Pope Francis and Hillary Clinton — reacted with gusto, and The Adobo Chronicles captured it all in photos:

Senator Manny Pacquiao Proposes Amendment To Hontiveros’ SOGIE Bill

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Two Philippine Senators on opposite sides of the aisle have come together to try to pass a string and truly effective Bill — SOGIE.

SOGIE, of course is the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression bill which seeks to protect members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) from discriminatory acts, similar to what happened with transgender woman Gretchen Custodio Diez. Diez was prevented from using the ladies’ restroom at a shopping mall in Cubao, Quezon City. A video tape of her encounter with a mall janitress and security guard has gone viral and has generated an emotional public outcry from both LGBT supporters and critics.

It is a known fact that Pacquiao is not a fan of the homosexual lifestyle, often invoking the bible to justify his stance. Hontiveros, on the other hand, is seen as an advocate pf LGBT rights.

In the interest of national unity, Pacquiao promised to fully support Hontiveros’ SOGIE bill with one amendment: to ban all urinals in public restrooms throughout the country.

The champion boxer-turned-Senator told The Adobo Chronicles that if we eliminated the one cause of the controversy — the male urinals — then the problem will be solved. “One for all, all for one,” he said about just maintaining toilet stalls with doors and locksmon public restrooms.

“This is true equality,” Pacquiao added.

Secretary Andanar Wants Take-home Pay of Journalists To Match Those Of PCOO Employees

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar says he fully supports increasing the take-home pay of journalists and other media workers. After all, they comprise society’s Fourth Estate.

Speaking with The Adobo Chronicles, Andanar additionally proposed that their salaries should match those of PCOO officials and employees.

”I must admit that PCOO hasn’t done a good job in bringing about an informed Filipino citizenry but the private news media —except Rappler, Inquirer and ABS-CBN — have filled the gap due to my department’s incompetence and inadequacies,” Andanar said.

Asked what the salary ranges are for PCOO officials and employees, Andanar said “that’s proprietary information, but you could request data through the FOI (Freedom of Information) initiative of the Duterte government. PCOO’s annual budget is P1.4 Billion.

This is a developing story…
