Filipino Representation In U.S. Capitol Siege!

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Not since the likes of John Ensign, Bobby Scott and Steve Austria have Filipino Americans been represented in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. But all that changed yesterday during the siege on Capitol Hill staged by pro-Trump supporters.

Many Filipinos noted with pride their country’s representation in the insurrection, highlighted by a walis tambo (soft broom) that’s as essential a household cleaning item as the tabo (bathroom dipper/pitcher). The above photo of the protester inside the Capitol instantly went trending.

Indeed Filipinos have come of age in the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave!

Leni Robredo Wants To Invoke 25th Amendment To Oust Duterte

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo, heeding advice from her attorneys, wants to invoke the 25th Amendment as a way to legally oust Rodrigo Duterte.

Under the 25th Amendment, the Vice President takes over the Presidency when the sitting President is deemed incapable of fulfilling his duties. Robredo believes that Duterte’s physical health and mental incapacity render him incapacitated to continue as chief executive of the land.

Robredo, however, didn’t realize that her attorneys were merely briefing her on a potential situation in the United States where there are calls for Donald Trump to be declared mentally incompetent and that Vice President Mike Pence should assume the Presidency in the remaining two weeks of the administration.

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – From the beginning, Leni Robredo has always understood that the only power of the Vice President of the Philippines is to wait for something to happen to the President. She now wants to change that.

Robredo has proposed that the Philippine Vice President should automatically be President of the Senate, just like in the U.S.

”It’s about time that we amend our Constitution and pattern our system after that of our former imperial master, the United States,” she told The Adobo Chronicles. “That way, the Office of the Vice President will get more respect from Filipinos,” she added.

Robredo urged Congress to immediately make the Constitutional change so that she can assume the Senate Presidency for the remainder of her term.

The Adobo Chronicles tried to get Senate President Tito Sotto’s reaction, but to no avail.
