QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Students of the University of the Philippines in Diliman and other parts of the country will be required to reimburse the government for their free tuition if they want to graduate.
President Rodrigo Duterte issued an Executive Order that would in effect cancel the free tuition status of U.P. students who waste taxpayer money by walking out of their classes to protest against the very government that gives them free education.
”If they want to continue protesting against the government, they should transfer to Ateneo University, De La Salle University or St. Scholastica’s College,” Duterte said. “It is about time we spend taxpayer money wisely.’
QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just moments after she criticized the U.S.T. Alumni Association’s choice of Asec Mocha Uson as the 2018 Outstanding Alumnus for Government Service, blogger and gossip extraordinaire Raissa Robles received good news from her alma mater, the University of the Philippines (U.P.).
The good news: the U.P. Alumni Association has named her the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Awardee for Fake News.
Robles graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in English Literature, major in Imaginative Writing. She’d rather not say what year.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The 1987 Philippine Constitution is crystal clear: the President may, in cases of invasion or rebellion, declare Martial in parts of, or, the entire country.
When elements call for the “overthrow” of the governmennt, that constitutes rebellion.
Well, student activists at the University of the Philippines across the country have publicly called for such overthrow. They even have a giant memo to show for their intention (see photo).
So today, Duterte signed a still unnumbered proclamation imposing Martial Law at all U.P. campuses nationwide.
