LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The tech gurus at BBC have deveoped an interactive video game for young people to help them detect fake news on mainstream and social media.
But alas, the game backfired on BBC.
In the final segment of the video game, players were asked to check from a list of news sources which ones they think are purveyors of fake news.
Among those checked by game players were: New York Times, Enquirer, CNN.
And… BBC News.
Is this a case of young people biting the hands of those who feed them?
QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the U.S., a lock down is implemented when a mass shooter is on campus. It is a standard procedure aimed at ensuring the safety of students, teachers and staff.
Yesterday, there was a lock down at the University of the Philippines, Diliman campus. As students walked out of their classes, the doors and gates of the university were put on a lock down.
Today, The Adobo Chronicles learned that the lock down is permanent. U.P. Diliman will be closed permanently.
It was welcome news for millions of Filipino taxpayers who have always complained that the taxes imposed on their hard-earned income are not being put to good use.
QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – As students threaten to stage more walk outs from their classes, the University of the Philippines in Diliman is preparing to implement a new policy that would penalize those who waste taxpayer money.
Sources close to the Board of Regents say that a new memo is awaiting signature. It states that students who are caught walking out of their classes will be blacklisted and will be asked to refund the government-portion of their tuition and other fees.

So, a student who is on full scholarship could be returning as much as P37,000 which represents tuition and other fees per semester.
For those on partial scholarships or beneficiaries of socialized tuition, they will be asked for a reimbursement based on the percentage of taxpayer money spent on their education.
Other U.P. campuses throughout the country are reportedly considering a similar move.
