LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles, Las Vegas Bureau) – Remember the Latino surrogate for the Trump campaign who a month ago warned that without tighter immigration policies from the Republican presidential nominee, “you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.”

Needless to say, that didn’t sit well with Latino voters and the Trump campaign has been trying hard to do some damage control since then.

Now, the smart Donald Trump has turned that gaffe into his advantage, hoping to win back the votes of minority voters. Well, at least the Filipino American voters.

Trump, campaigning heavily in the state of Nevada which has a large Filipino population, declared that November 8, election day, will be “Lumpia Tuesday.”

Food trucks hired by the Trump campaign will be stationed at polling places throughout the country giving away free lumpia to all those who will promise to vote for the Donald when they go into the voting booth.

Lumpia is that delicious Filipino delicacy, akin to the Chinese eggroll.

So, on November 8, go out and vote.  And have a lumpia!

Supreme Court To Construct Genderless Bathrooms In Preparation For Landmark Transgender Case

img_6501WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Friday to take up the controversial issue of transgender rights, and will consider a Virginia school district’s challenge to Obama administration guidelines requiring that schools allow transgender students to use restrooms matching their chosen gender, rather than birth gender.

A federal appeals court ruled in April for high school student Gavin Grimm in one of several lawsuits challenging the Department of Education rule. The case is likely to be heard by April and decided by late June.

In preparation for the hearings, Chief Justice John Roberts told The Adobo Chronicles that he has ordered the SC building administrator to begin constructing genderless bathrooms outside the court chambers so that the justices will not be perceived as biased towards either the transgender or straight communities.

If the justices rule in favor of Grimm, the bathrooms will remain permanent. Otherwise, they will be de-constructed after the court issues its ruling.

Miss International 2016: Why Miss Philippines Didn’t Win Best National Costume

IMG_6367.JPGTOKYO, Japan (The Adobo Chronicles, Tokyo Bureau) – She could have worn an Igorot native attire or a Filipino terno or a Maria Clara outfit, but she didn’t. Could it have cost her the Best National Costume award?

We’re talking about our dear Baguio City beauty, Kylie Verzosa, Miss Philippines  and our new Miss International !

Instead she wore a Japanese kimono beneath that Miss Philippines sash for the national costume competition.

Unconfirmed reports say that her gold terno didn’t arrive on time on PAL (Plane Always Late.)

But in all seriousness, congratulations Kylie. You made us proud!

It was a great speech, by the way. And you looked stunning in that evening gown!
