Starbucks Will Donate All Of Its Leftover Coffee To America’s Needy

Starbucks moving on down the roadSEATTLE, Washington (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Coffee giant Starbucks today announced an unprecedented move to help feed America’s hungry population.

The Seattle-based company is parterning with the Food Donation Connection and Feeding America in a program known as FoodShare that will allow the company to donate all of its leftover brewed coffee to food banks. With this program, FDC and Feeding America will pick up the coffee at 7,600 Starbucks-operated U.S. locations redistribute it.

Other coffee companies like Peet’s and Seattle’s Best are expected to follow suit.

It’s American corporate responsibility at its best!

Nike Sues Mayor Rodrigo Duterte For Patent And Copyright Violation

BEAVERTON, Oregon (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Philippine presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte may be gaining popularity and momentum in his quest to be his country’s next president, but he is now in big trouble.

Duterte and his campaign team are being sued by the multinational sports apparel company Nike for copyright infringement and violation of the U.S. Patent and Trademark laws.

It has to do with a newly-released Duterte campaign logo which mimics Nike’s popular ‘Just Do It’ advertising campaign.

U.S. patent laws prohibit any individual or company to copy or use registered trademarks like the Nike logo and advertising meme.  If convicted, Duterte and his campaign team face a fine of up to $1 Million or imprisonment of three years, or both.

So our advice to the campaign teams of Philippine presidential candidates, think twice and do your research before just doing it.

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Presidential sister and self-proclaimed Queen Of All Media Kris Aquino is hanging up the gloves.  After almost 20 years with her home network, ABS-CBN, Aquino is leaving show business.

In a series of Instagram posts, Aquino said she hoped that her fans will miss her.

She explained that her decision to stay away from the limelight was prompted by what she seemed to refer to as “heart problems.”

She emphasized that her health and that of her family are more important than fame and fortune.  She has decided to focus on a more healthy lifestyle — of Chinese food, burgers, barbecue, potato chips and nachos.
