Pia Wurtzbach To Sue TV5 For Libel!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach was starting to get hate mail because News TV5 posted a quote card linking her to a comment suggesting that Vice President Leni Robredo be crowned Miss Universe. Robredo issued a statement about her idea of what makes a strong woman. Many supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte were not happy with that comment.

But then, TV5 issued an erratum, saying that the quote should have been attributed to Bianco Guidotti, another former beauty queen.

But it was too late. Wurtzbach said the damage has been done. So she is suing TV5 for libel.

Moral of the story: fact check, fact check, fact check.

History Repeats: Hosts Misread Miss Universe Cue Card!

HOLLYWOOD, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles, Hollywood Bureau). It happened to Pia Wurtzbach, and it happened again to Rabiya Mateo — the wrong Miss Universe being crowed due to the misreading of the cue card.

What Steve Harvey did, Olivia Culpo and Mario Lopez did, too, depriving Miss Philippines the first moments of glory.

But Culpo and Lopez misread the cue card early on during coronation right. They misread the Top 10 due card which practically ended Mateo’s Miss Universe journey.

But all’s well that ends well.

This morning, The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Mateo in her hotel suite, wearing the Miss Universe crown and sash. She was gracious and magnanimous.

As the old OPM song goes, “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng buhay ko…”

Malacañang Declares May 18 A Non-Working Holiday

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It is no secret that Filipinos are avid fans of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant and that they take the performance of their representative very seriously. Especially owners and workers of salons and beauty parlors, many of whom are members of the LGBT community.

Miss Universe is the LGBT community’s “Super Bowl.”

As we already know, the Philippines’ representative to the international pageant didn’t win nor made it to the top 10, to the dismay of the country’s entire population, especially the salon and parlor workers.

So, in recognition of the big disappointment of the salon and parlor workers, the palace declared May 18 a non-working holiday throughout the country to give them the chance to grieve and to pick themselves up from their frustration.

So if you have scheduled a salon and parlor appointment for May 18, you are advised to call to re-schedule.
