DONALD TRUMP DECIDES TO RENAME HIS PAGEANT ‘MISS EASTERN UNIVERSE’

imageLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles®) – Day by day, Donald Trump’s Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants are facing more trouble — a continuing fall out from the business mogul’s derogatory comments about Mexicans during his announcement of his candidacy for president of the United States.  He called Mexicans “rapists, drug addicts and criminals.”

As a result of his insensitive remarks, the Spanish-language television network, Univision, severed its business relationship with Trump, saying it will not be airing the July 12 Miss USA or Miss Universe pageant later this year. Trump is suing Univision for $500 Million.

Soon after, NBC Universal also announced that it is “firing” Trump by not airing the two pageants and canceling the Donald’s “Celebrity Apprentice” television series. No  lawsuit has yet been filed against NBC, but that’s obviously coming in the next few days.

Today, Mexico announced that it will not be sending a representative to the Miss Universe pageant this year, and there are strong indications that many other Spanish-speaking countries  in South America and Europe will follow suit.

The absence of the western countries that are in solidarity with Mexico will create a noticeable void in Trump’s international pageant. (Latin countries have fared extremely well in the pageant .)

In a desperate attempt to prevent the total demise of the Miss Universe Pageant, Trump, speaking from his penthouse suite at the Trump Towers in Las Vegas, announced that he was renaming the Miss Universe Pageant the “Miss Eastern Universe Pageant” to better reflect the demographics and representation of candidates that will result from the Western countries’ boycott of his pageant.

NBC FALLOUT: MISS USA, MISS UNIVERSE TO AIR ON PAY-PER-VIEW INSTEAD

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (The Adobo Chronicles®) – What if they held a beauty pageant and nobody watched it?

Well, that’s exactly what was going to happen to the Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe pageants after NBC Universal and Univision both severed their relationship with pageant owner Donald Trump. The two networks fired Trump after his disparaging comments about Mexicans when he recently announced his candidacy for president of the United States.  Trump called Mexicans “rapists, drug addicts and criminals.”

The Miss U.S.A. pageant is scheduled on July 12, 2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and neither NBC nor Univision will air it.

Being the shrewd businessman that he is, Trump found a  way out of this debacle. He has enlisted Pay-Per-View (PPV) to air the Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe Pageants. Yes, the same PPV that airs sports events, including the recent Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather boxing fight.

The Adobo Chronicles® learned that  Pay-Per-View, will charge subscribers $100 to watch a live broadcast of the pageant in English and $150 to watch it in Spanish.

Informed sources said that PPV and Trump will share the proceeds of the live broadcast at 50% a piece.

Whoever wins the Miss USA contest will represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant later this year.

The chances of Miss USA winning the Miss Universe crown this year has just increased a hundred fold because all the Spanish-speaking countries have decided not to send a representative to the pageant — countries like Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Puerto Rico and many others.  Latin candidates have consistently fared well in the Miss Universe pageant.

The Philippines, who has also been consistently in the top 10 finalists for Miss Universe,  is still deciding whether or not to send Miss Philippines  Pia Wurtzbach to the pageant.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – First, it was Univision that severed its relationship with Donald Trump.  Now NBC Universal has followed suit.

Both networks are partners with Trump who owns the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants.  The pageants have always been aired on Univision and NBC.

The souring of Trump’s relationships with the networks was an offshoot of the business mogul’s comments when he announced his candidacy for president of the United States. During that announcement, he promised that if elected, he would close the southern border so that Mexico would stop sending “rapists, drug addicts and criminals.”

Miss USA which is scheduled on July 12, 2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will not be aired by either network.  The pageant’s future and that of Miss Universe remain unknown.

Until now.

The second richest man in the world, Mexican Carlos Slim Helú, just offered to buy the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants from Trump for an undisclosed amount.

Known as the “Warren Buffett of Mexico,” Helú’s current net worth is estimated at $71.2 Billion, second only to that of Bill Gates.

“I want to give Trump a dose of his own medicine,” Helú said. ” If he thinks we Mexicans are nothing but rapists, addicts and criminals, then this Mexican wants him out for good — from Miss USA, Miss Universe and from all other his other business holdings. I will continue to buy him out.”

Both Univision and NBC Universal said that if Helú succeeds in buying the pageants from Trump, they would be happy to re-establish their partnership with the popular beauty contests.

The Adobo Chronicles® was unsuccessful in reaching Trump for comment or reaction to the proposed purchase.
