IN GERMANY, SCULPTURE GETS PARKING TICKET; IN THE U.S., ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER GETS A CITATION

Tale of two sculptures

HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles ® ) – Law enforcement is a serious business in Germany and the United States. Even sculptures must follow the law.

In the German city of Karlsruhe, an overzealous officer slapped a sculpture with a parking ticket.  The sculpture of a bent red Mercedes-Benz food truck is that of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm who is famous for his humurous sculptural treatments of iconic vehicles that are stretched, inflated, and twisted into seemingly impossible shapes. It was cited for illegal parking.

Thousands of miles away, in the city of Hollywood, California, Arnold Schwarzenegger was issued a police citation inside the world-famous Madam Tussauds Wax Museum on Hollywood Boulevard.  The former California governor and star of the new movie, ‘Terminator Genisys,’ was cited for impersonating a wax sculpture.

Schwarzenegger posed as himself, pretending to be a wax sculpture, occasionally coming to life to the surprise of museum visitors.

As he was led out of the museum, Schwarzenegger told the crowd, “I will be back!”

CNN’S DON LEMON: “I’M CONSERVATIVE AND I TELL THE TRUTH”

ATLANTA, Georgia (The Adobo Chronicles®) – CNN Anchor Don Lemon has  finally come out!

No, not as gay man (we already knew that) but as a conservative journalist who is out to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.

In a phone interview on the Glenn Beck show, Lemon said, “I’m out to tell the truth and a lot a people don’t want to hear the truth.”

Truths like the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 being kidnapped by a higher power, the smell of marijuana during a night  of protest in Ferguson, and black kids needing to pull up their pants to earn respect.

“Does CNN know your are conservative?” Beck asked Lemon, who responded , “Yes, that’s why they want me there.”

Looks like Lemon just outed CNN as a closeted conservative news network. We always suspected that!

WORD WAR BETWEEN THE PHILIPPINES AND MALAYSIA: BEST AND WORST FOOD

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (The Adobo Chronicles®)  –A word war is brewing between the Philippines and its neighbor country, Malaysia.

And no, it has nothing to do with the Philippines’ claim over Malaysian-occupied Sabah, nor the territorial dispute between the two countries over the Spratly islands in the South China Sea, which also involves China and other Southeast Asian nations.

It is all about food. Yes, food.

Shortly after a CNN report named the Philippines the second best food destination in the world, next only to Taiwan, Malaysian celebrity chef  Datuk Redzuawan opposed the survey results, saying that sixth placer Malaysia should have topped the list.

“Blessed with an abundance of seafood, tropical fruits and creative cooks, there’s more to Filipino food than the mind-boggling balut (duck embryo),” CNN said in its report on Monday.

It highlighted the world-famous adobo, which it said was originally Mexican that Filipinos devised as a cooking method. “And that is exactly why the Philippines should not have garnered second place,” the Malaysian chef argued. “ All its foods are copycats from Spain, China, Japan and the U.S.”

In response to the Malaysian criticism, Filipino Chef Claude Tayag, whose version of the adobo was featured in the CNN report, challenged Redzuawan to a one-on-one “Cook-off,” where either chef would prepare his best local cuisine in a show to be broadcast live from the Mall of Asia in Manila.

White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford has been invited to judge the competition, to the objection of Redzuawan.  Comerford is Filipina.

The date is yet to be determined.

The Adobo Chronicles® will be among the sponsors of the cook-off.
