Black, Asian and Latino Film Celebrities Form Their Own “Oscars”

imageHOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – In an apparent response to the lack of diversity in the Oscar nominations for two years in a row now, a group of famous celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z, Tyler Perry and Spike Lee is partnering with Black Entertainment Television (BET) to establish the Boscars, the Black Oscars. The Boscars will award and recognize outstanding achievement in film among  Blacks.

Not to be outdone, Asians in Hollywood led by director Ang Lee, actors Jackie Chan and Lucy Liu, and scriptwriter Ronnie Del Carmen are also forming their own “Academy of Motion Pictures.” They plan to establish their own Oscars which they are calling Ascars.

Of course, Latinos won’t allow themselves to be left behind. They are in discussions with Univision and Telemundo to hold an annual film awards for Latinos. They’re calling it Lascars.

The Internet activist group responsible for the hashtag #Oscarssowhite, has thrown its unconditional support for the triple move by the film celebrities of color.

Meanwhile, Native Americans in film are also in the process of establishing their own Oscars. Unfortunately, the move is on hold until they come up with an appropriate name for their awards. They can’t use NASCAR because that name is patented by the Daytona-based stock car racing organization.

Is this the beginning of the end for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Oscars as we know it?

Donald Trump Blames Sarah Palin For His Second-place Finish In Iowa Caucuses

CONCORD, New Hamphire (The Adobo Chronicles) – GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump was so confident he would win the Iowa caucuses Monday, but final results showed him trailing Ted Cruz and almost in a statistical tie with Marco Rubio.

Trump hasn’t been heard of since Monday.  For the first time in many months, he has not reared his ugly head on television and his social media accounts suddently went silent.

Until today.

In his first public statement since losing to Cruz, Trump said that Sarah Palin’s endorsement cost him the votes in Iowa.

It will be recalled that Palin recently publicly endorsed Trump in an Alaskan-style, blabbering speech which made little sense to the smart Iowan voters.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles what he could have done differently to win the Iowa caucuses, he said, “I should have asked Palin to shut up . In hindsight, I really didn’t need her endorsement.  It hurt my campaign.”

If Elected President, Donald Trump Will Not Live In The White House

DES MOINES, Iowa (The Adobo Chronicles) – Since he launched his bid to be the Republican nominee for president of the United States, Donald Trump has made many promises, but nothing has caught the attention of the media and electorate more than what he said today in Iowa, on the eve of the first caucus of the 2016 presidential elections season.

If elected president of the United States, Trump says he will not live in the White House.

Instead, the billionaire candidate will establish his own White House outside of Washington, D.C. — as a matter of fact two of them : one in Florida and another in Nevada.  Trump’s White House (s) will be headquartered in the Trump hotels in Doral and Las Vegas.

“This will bring the White House — and the president — closer to the people,” Trump declared. He also indicated that he will not be using Airforce One or Marine One. Rather, he said he will be using his own private jet at no cost to the taxpayers.

The Adobo Chronicles asked Trump what will happen to the media and the White House press corps when he travels across the country or abroad.

“Well, they just have to book their own commercial flights and follow me around,” he said.

Thousands of miles away in the Philippines, a leading presidential candidate said that if elected president, he will not live in Malacañang — the Filipino counterpart of the White House — because he likes to sleep in his own bed. His bed is in Davao City of which he is currently the mayor.

Rodrigo Duterte said he will commute daily from Manila to Davao using a private jet of his friend.  Davao is about a hour and forty-five minutes by plane from Manila, which is a far way shorter commute than being stuck in daily traffic on Metro Manila’s streets.
