Ted Cruz Will Speak At Democratic National Convention

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Sources close to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) have confirmed to The Adobo Chronicles that the chosen theme for this year’s convention is “Vote Your Conscience.”

The theme reinforces the idea that it is “unconscionable” for any American to vote for Donald Trump.

And what better person to expound on this theme than former Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz.

Cruz emphasized this theme during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland earlier this week. He has been invited by DNC to speak just before Hillary Clinton delivers her nomination acceptance speech. He has accepted.

Upon learning of the news, Trump accused Cruz of being a turncoat and a sore loser. The senator from Texas refused to endorse Trump during his Cleveland speech, eliciting boos from the Republican crowd.

We caught up with Cruz on his way to Philadelphia and asked him if this meant he was voting for Clinton in November. “I am still undecided, but I know that my wife Heidi Cruz will. In no way is she voting for a misogynist like Trump.”

During the Republican primaries, Trump and Cruz became engaged in a personal war of words, with Trump sharing an unflattering picture of Heidi on Twitter.

Philippines: One-Lane Policy May Be Key To Solving Manila’s Traffic Nightmare

How do you solve the nightmarish traffic problem of Metro Manila without getting rid of mass transport like buses and jeepneys? Not even the establishment of the light railway system or the “coding” system seemed to have created a dent on this hellish situation.

Well, we think we have just the right solution, thanks to our traffic experts here at The Adobo Chronicles.

We propose a one-lane per vehicle policy at all times in all major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, and this is how it works:

Any motorist — whether driving a bus, jeepney, taxi or private car — caught on closed circuit TV (CCTV) occupying more than one lane on any street or avenue should be fined or imprisoned, or both. The same punishment should imposed on motorists trying to overtake another vehicle from the right, instead of the left.

And here’s the key: the penalty will depend on how many lanes a vehicle is occupying at the time the photo was taken — two lanes would mean double the fine and prison term; three lanes would triple the penalty, and so on.

While overtaking from the left will continue to be legal, it has to be done as quickly as possible so as not to be caught on candid camera.

We hope President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s transportation team will heed this call.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (The Adobo Chronicles) – In his acceptance speech during the final night of the Republican National Convention, Donald Trump said that the U.S. must suspend immigration from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism until the vetting methods are improved. That’s bad news for Filipinos, including those already on a waiting list for a visa number to immigrate to America.

According to the latest visa bulletin from the U.S. State Department, visa numbers for the Philippines are already lagging way behind.

If you’re an unmarried son or daughter of a U.S. citizen, there is currently no visa number available for you if your date of application was prior to March of 2005. If you are a brother or sister of an adult U.S. citizen, visa numbers are available only if you applied prior to February of 1993.

Well, all that is only going to get worse, especially because the Philippines is one of the countries “compromised by terrorism” by virtue of Abu Sayyaf and other local rebel elements that have been designated by the United Nations and other countries as “terrorist groups.”

Many Republican Filipinos in the U.S. have expressed regret over voting for Trump in the primary contests and are now having second thoughts about voting for him in the coming November elections.

Thousands of other Filipino Americans who have never voted in U.S. elections are now seriously considering registering to vote this year just to ensure that Trump does not become president. It’s an “awakening” that’s long overdue.
