MANILA BAY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s been a week of great showcase.  China and the Philippines have simultaneously unveiled their domestically-built aircraft carriers, coming at a time when tensions continue to rise over the disputed territories in the South China Sea.

China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier slipped into the sea for the first time on Wednesday, after days of publicity celebrating the impending launch as a milestone in President Xi Jinping’s drive to extend China’s military reach far beyond its shores.

At about the exact time, the Philippine Navy christened its own locally-built aircraft carrier made of 100% indigenous materials.

In a statement accompanying the launch, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said that hopefully, the Philippine aircraft carrier will not have to be used since his approach with China has always been one of diplomacy and reality.

“We’re no match to China’s aircraft carrier, but we’re still proud that the Philippines is able to domestically build its military defenses against any nation that would trample on our sovereignty,” Dutere told The Adobo Chronicles.

Boracay Mansion Up For Sale To Raise Funds For Robredo’s P8M Election Counter-Protest Deposit

IMG_9834QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A day after the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) ordered Leni Robredo to pay the counter-protest poll fee of P8 Million, the Vice President put the Boracay Mansion up for sale.

Robredo said that proceeds of the sale will go towards fulfilling the required cash deposit in connection with former Senator Bongbong Marcos’ case challenging the results of the last vice presidential elections.

The PET directed Robredo to pay the cash deposit as stated in the resolution within non-extendable period of five days from notice of the resolution.

Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles that because she is from the laylayan and that she makes a living out of selling lugaw, she does not have that kind of cash 💰  to fulfill the PET’s order. “Selling the Boracay Mansion is the only way I can raise that kind of money. FilAm millionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis has not yet responded to my request for a personal loan.”

The Boracay Mansion is a 7,000-square-meter property located at No. 100, 11th Street, New Manila, Quezon City which now serves as the office of the Vice President.

It appears that no one in Robredo’s staff — not even her top spokesperson Georgina Hernandez — told her that the Vice President does not own the mansion.

In that case, Robredo may just need to follow up her request with Nicolas-Lewis.
